Scott just publically said that PAC 12 will keep its eye on Boise St if the conference expands to 14 teams. If there's hope that BSU goes to the PAC then you can forget about CP ever leaving.

Yeah, like the Pac 14 wants to capture the key Idaho demographic. Not only is Idaho a small media market, but do you think the powerful schools in the conference (read USC) want to travel to bf nowhere and play on a frozen blue field in that dinky little stadium? Not gonna happen any time soon. Probably would try again to poach Big 12 schools (like UO plus O State) that are pissed about how Texas gets a much bigger share than they do.

Per Larry Scott -

"If we were to look at expanding again, I'm sure both those schools would be on the list. But, we don't have any plans."

Also, both schools were downgraded a bit because their academics were not on par with many of the other schools in the Pac-12.

I'm not too worried.

Then we'll pick him up after they go 4-8 in the Pac12

Agreed. Keeping an eye, but expansion is more about media markets and potential impact on TV contracts/revenue. SDSU and UNLV make more sense from that perspective, though I think just as with the previous negotiations, the desire would be to poach off of the Big XII and get into TX.

Yeah let BSU join the Pac. They'll find out winning is tougher in a conference where there are other teams that can play. Not playing 10 patsies changes things.

p.s. Betcha the Pac12 would make BSU change that blue turf.

Larry Scott got the Pac12 network going but his conference expansion acumen/eye for talent has been a terrible experiment so far.

Is Larry an idiot? Boise State cannot join the conference because it's not a doctorate level research university. As a master's level institution, they will never be admitted to the PAC, regardless of what Larry wants. Besides, as others have stated, Boise State will be the next Utah if they joined a major conference like the PAC.

Good points. I just don't see it. Larry is just sugar talking.

Anyhow, I like the idea of Grandpa Petersen watching his grandson play HS ball. Three generations of Petersens to play at home.

If I were an AD/chancellor at ANY university, I would automatically veto Boise State joining my conference unless they agreed to tear out the blue turf and replace it with a 'normal' shade of green. I'm surprised the Big East didn't demand that already.

I don't care about that so much. The fact that BSU is just slightly more academically prestigious than Yuba College bothers me.

This is no way in hell this will happen.

Scott is losing his edge.

1.) He can't get the P12 Network on more TVs. FAIL.
2.) He will NEVER be able to get the academic schools to buy into taking schools that's viewed as glorified community colleges.

There's a point of diminishing return on investments where the addition of teams will reduce share per school rather than commensurately increasing the pot and I think this is true other than adding Texas or Oklahoma schools.

On a related note... why don't we make Oregon get rid of that annoying and distracting basketball floor design?

This is getting rediculous. Scott, at best, gives a polite answer - I mean why publically denigrate anyone when it isn't needed - and suddenly posters are up in arms that BSU and SDSU are at the top of our expansion list?

Really?

If Scott said, "well, 99.9% of the time, we wouldn't consider BSU and SDSU - but the problem is the .1% - but we're not even there yet" - I think there would be an instant thread, "Calling it now - BSU and SDSU to Pac-14" and what an outrage it is, etc - and that he just needs to come out, list all the negative sterotypes of both schools, poke fun at them, and urinate on an aztec riding a bronco for good measure just to assuage our collective fears.

ASU is like University of Chicago compared to Boise State. If the Pac 12 presidents rejected the Oklahoma schools (likely due to Oklahoma St), then there's no way in hell that they'd take Boise and San Diego St. Those two schools add absolutely nothing to the conference, both athletically and academically.

I think Larry Scott hates Cal for some reason - He took away our big game this year, took away our bye week, made us apologize over the Oregon game two years ago (he did by the way). And now, just are we are trying to woo peterson, he pulls this ****. I am sick of that guy.

Buy a brand to add to your portfolio and I don't think you will change its color and how people identify with it just because it doesn't suit your taste. BSU is known for its blue smurf turf as much as Oregon is known for its 50 different uni combos. You wouldn't ask Oregon to change their wardrobe just because you think Green and Yellow clash in your league.

glorified community colleges? let's be real, outside of Cal and the Furdies, and in a limited way the baby bears at Westwood Community College, the rest of the academics in the Pac-12 are a joke.

are we really talking academic ability here? Udub, Oregon, ASU, Colorado, c'mon! :woohoo Boise St. students would score 20% on exams here, compared to what, 30, 40, maybe 50% for the rest compared to Cal students! they would all fail.

The Pac needs to get off its high horse about academics, particularly Cal, which I'm sure, with Stanfurd, is holding the line on academics. no wonder Scott hates Cal, we, together with Longhorn greed, are probably the biggest roadblock to creating a superconference. plus, its easy to hate on Cal since we've been sucking so hard the last couple of years under Tedford.:headbang
