If Sonny wants to leave here for TT in 3 years we will probably welcome it with open arms because it means he failed here. No disrespect to TT, but if Sonny succeeds here the only place he'll be leaving for is the NFL. Everything is in place for Cal to be a perennial BCS contender - we just need the coaching.

old coach was the cause of all our problems. Now with new coach there will be no problems at all. More motivation to win, get good grades, make refs like us, extravagant special teams, not turn the ball over. Yes, we will be a perennial BCS program now.

Yeah, TT has been on a downward slide ever since they railroaded Leach. That job will be radioactive to upward moving coaches until they purge the administration.

Not necessarily. Tubbervile is a great example of this. Cin is not a bigger job. Graham leaving Pitt after only one year for ASU is another example.

To loosely quote Bruce Feldman, "Tommy Tuberville had been trying to leave Lubbock almost as soon as he got there. He had interviewed for numerous other jobs including the Miami job way back when Al Golden got it".

Dykes and anyone else that is plugged into the College Football world knew Texas Tech was going to have an opening very very soon. If he were interested in the job, he wouldn't have accepted this one. This is where he and his family want to be.

TT tries to leave EVERYWHERE as soon as he gets there. Best way to get a significant raise.

TT is a doormat job now.

Programs in the state of TX:

1)Texas
2)A&M
3/4) Baylor/TCU
5)TT

Additionally, next door in OK you have OU and resurgent OSU with a sugar daddy pouring millions.

It's going to be real tough to win at TT for the foreseeable future. Only somebody without options would sign up to coach that program.

TT, along with Craig James, did a hatched job on Leach.
Tuberville left TT for a team in the Big East.
I don't know what's gong on at TT, but it smells really bad.

Graham is getting paid a ridiculous amount of $ given his record. He had a good record but is being paid elite dollars.

Well put.

The amount of nonsense that has gone in the past three years is remarkable. DC resigns to pursue other career opportunities after just beating his wife to a pulp. His replacement was awful and lasted one year - his defensive scheme against Texas in 2011 was the worst I have ever seen at that level. ( Though CP's against Nevada in 2010 was up there) Tubs rewarded with multi year contract extension after winning something called The Ticket City Bowl. Hire boy wonder AD from Miami who either failed to disclose the Miami Shapiro investigation was underway or wasn't vetted - still don't think we have straight answer on that one. His first move is to hire known alcoholic as basketball coach. Basketball coach promptly violates numerous NCAA rules and is forced to resign when players complain of abuse ( there seems to be a lot of this going around in Lubbock). Boy Wonder explains the basketball abuse was isolated incident. Week later, Tubs assaults grad asst on sideline.Tubs leaves to take job at school in collapsing conference.

Kind of like that scene in No Country for Old Men. Deputy and Sheriff come upon the scene of a massacre - bodies everywhere. Deputy says " Will isn't this a mess ?" Sheriff - " If it ain't, it will do till one gets here."

But great timing for Cal. Unless new HC abuses players or beats women, then Tech shouldn't be calling Sonny for a few years - not that I wouldn't put it past the very principled Boy Wonder to try.
