I just got a text alert on my phone from Bleacher Report that AB is gone. Not a big surprise, had he stayed he would have the third string(maybe) QB. Good luck to him.

gone?
as in: off the team but still at Cal? or, has left Cal now? or, will transfer soon?

He'll graduate after this summer and transfer to play a last season as a grad student, which means he won't have to sit out. He'll look into petitioning for a medical 6th year, as well.

Good for him! Great to hear he's graduating and hope that he finds a great landing spot for grad school and his second chance to play QB.

Has a player ever transferred due to losing a starting job, and gone on to have success beyond the college level? Glad to see he's graduating as a bear, he deserves a Cal degree (from a student athlete perspective, conditional of course on him actually meeting his academic requirements).

and Perry Kline are two just Cal examples
Troy Aikman
Ryan Mallet are some non Cal people that jump to mind.
I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Hearing the same thing...
I really don't understand it. If bridgford started this next year and tedford was still coach, we would be going ballistic. He's not a top 3 qb on our team in any offense. The fact that tedford plays the qb who scores the highest on his play book multiple choice test rather than their ability is ridiculousness.
Bridgford is not that good, and he was about to graduate from an elite university. To spend this many years at cal just to leave his senior year doesn't add up. Best of luck to the guy but unfortunately I can see him regretting his decision down the road.
He had his chance last year to shine and showed nothing. I wonder what he thought was going to happen this year...
Anyway, wish you the best.

Hmm if AB is transferring what does that say in the minds of others say Goff gets the nod? I really hope it doesn't come to the situation where 2 or 3 guys transfer
turkey02;842096527 said:
AB transferring simply means he wasn't in the top 3, nothing more.

I wonder who will take him. We had a lot of young talent at WR last year, and he wasn't very good at getting them the ball. It is hard to imagine that his performance will suddenly improve when you take away the receiving talent that he had at Cal. I hope he lands somewhere.

Don't know how his grades are, but maybe one of the Ivies? UC Davis? I mean, obviously he's not headed to one of the Alabamas of the world, but...
Best of luck to Bridgford! With a Cal degree and college football experience, he's no doubt headed for a bright future.

Maybe he can back up Nick Montana at Tulane or Tony Montana in Miami.

It's sad to say, but I can't imagine that those schools don't have better options. Bridgford looked really bad last year throwing to KA, Treggs, Powe, and Harper. I can't imagine him doing better with less talent.

In the Ivies or FCS, the other team would have less talent too. a lot less. makes a big difference. a lot of missing receivers is due to pressure to hit a spot or pressure from the defense...
Anyway, good to hear Bridg is getting his degree... best of luck to him.
