Fair or unfair -- Forcier was perceived to be an entitled brat who had a lot of athletic talent. Good fit for furd. Bridgford doesn't seem to fit either description.
Forcier was not applying to grad school. He had also beat out Denard Robinson the year before. Not a good comparison.
I was mostly trying to get a dig in on Stanford, which claims to have high academic standards for athletes and "never" takes transfers, because they took a guy without great character and a low GPA (high school too) as a transfer.
The point being, GPA is not a barrier if a school wants you for football--even Stanford, thus the critical piece in the whole equation is what schools want Bridgford for football. That will determine if he has a good shot at playing time and if they can get him in their grad program.
My point, which Colorado apparently respectfully disagrees (which is fine--this is not either of our decisions), is once you have those programs lined up, I would choose based on the grad program, because football playing time is not a sure thing (though any school that wants you thinks you have a shot at playing time), but the grad degree is--and if you are going to attend school and get a degree, it might as well be a good one.
That is why he chose Cal after all and I don't think he regrets that decision.
