I doubt the new Bear logo will last. The jagged edge stuff is already passe.

I'd almost be willing to bet money. The reason why I don't think it will last is not only the jagged edge design but it's contrary to the other Cal logos and "branded" ID like Oski. Most Cal stuff that has endured have classic lines or a traditional feel like the Oski logo.

Example: script Cal fits with Oski, the Campanelli, etc., block C as well. The new jagged Bear doesn't fit with anything except maybe the matte helmet.

The little I heard in the presentation stated more aggressive, etc. and they went for it regardless. Aggressive jagged lines just don't match with the existing stuff. Also the new bear logo is difficult to look at and know exactly what it is. Imagine the new bear logo on a flag...WTF is it?! That's my guess.

Secondary logo by itself sucks. Bad idea.

Cal already has an identity problem. No one outside the Bay Area even knows what "Cal" is. This bear logo is beyond meaningless. It's just a t-shirt with a modern-style bear logo. Doesn't mean anything to anybody.

This thread brings to mind a pet peeve of mine. Is there a reason that we cannot obtain some of the tee and polo shirts, pullovers, etc. that coaches wear? They are for the most part simple, clean, have "CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL" or some such on them, and generally look so much better than anything available at the stores.
They look classic, strong and give a good appearance. Is it preferred fans do not have them for whatever reason?

That is by FAR the best uniform combination I have seen on a Cal player. Absolutely great.

My hope is that we have that as a primary and drop blue jerseys.

OTOH, the gold trousers with the blue blouse would be sick also.


I hope we never see the grey. I hope we never see the all yellow/all blue. I bet we see all blue for the first game, and all yellow for the second and all grey for the first road game.

I absolutely love this look. I don't think it's getting enough hype on here. Which I get, not everyone likes Oski's psycho killer brother. But this look is nice AF.

I hope they'll consider gold over blue for at least some night games. Really looks great under the lights. Ditching the all blues, all yellows and white anything at home is great news either way.

I want to see this yellow over blue ( eve/night games) or blue over yellow ( day games) made automatic!!

Right..I'm okay with the new logo (whether I like it or not doesn't matter, I'm not the core audience) but from a structural standpoint, to do a shirt without a "Cal" on it is silly. If nothing else, it would reinforce something that is new.

3 years from now, you want to do a shirt with just the secondary logo, okay, fine...
