I just saw a photo of a young guy with the bottom of his leg blown off. I feel like vomiting.

Sadly these type of things happen daily across the world. I'm pretty sure the rest of the world is smirking a bit just a little to know that we're now experiencing the same thing they're had to suffer through constantly.

Also I hope none of the 1st responders were taken out by the second blast. In the video, you can see the LEOs in hiviz vests running towards the injured after the first blast while everyone else was running away. Definition of bravery right there.

Boston Marathon is THE most significant marathon in the world.

But yeah, I'm surprised something higher profile (like even the Bosox game earlier in the day) wasn't targeted.

yea its just not the time, but i get you. the thing is with all the shootings and north korea threatening to launch us into WWIII and stuff lately i havent really felt a sense of security. Who knows where it came from, but i can tell you that our way of life has no shortage of enemies both foreign and domestic.

It takes a real hero to look at an event where people are killed and say "I'm pretty sure the rest of the world is smirking a bit."

I'm pretty sure when I hear people are killed in Syria or London I dont smirk. I dont smirk when someone is murdered in Piedmont or the Berkeley hills because other people also are victims of violence.



I even feel for people who are our enemy, want us dead and end up crippled or dead fighting us. Nothing to smirk about.

I coach five athletes who competed in Boston today, three of whom compete for our club including the recent Oakland Marathon winner Shinji Nakadai. I am very thankful that all are safe, but as a runner and coach of the Strawberry Canyon Track Club, I am just shattered.

I think the police would have mentioned that a suspect was in captivity in their press conference.

i see. well it seems too easy but i hope that its the guy. if it is a saudi, then it explains where the likely origins of this is from. they never learn (Al Quaeda)

I seriously doubt this is true unless the Mayor and Chief of Police of the City of Boston are unaware of it or feel a need not to divulge it.

well they may want to talk to the guy first. at this point im not sure the police should say anything other than the obvious. let alone if they have the wrong guy and they give people a false sense of security and there continue to be more explosions etc. knock on wood.

There probably is a reason why they wouldn't want to release that information to the public just yet if they in fact did have a suspect. Especially if that suspect ended up not actually being the one responsible.

I'm not saying that Fox and NY Post are accurate, or that this is even true, but I'm guessing if MSNBC had confirmed it you'd have gobbled it up.

BTW "Saudi National" and "Muslims" are both trending on twitter right now. Just an example of why the PD might want to stay mum if they really do have a suspect.

Boston police now saying incident at JFK library is not an explosion and not related.

Given the sensitivities of having another Saudi terrorist attack, I would think he is a "person of interest" and not quite fingered as a perp just yet.
