WTF is that Cal has had some pretty great athletes of late who are clouded. Simple as that. No more be said. If you don't see that then you have the problem with great athletes as great human beings. Most of KA's problem is clouded in the step bro, but nevertheless, not pretty. DJ was endowed with great athletic prowess but marginal attitude. They were both studs on the field, controversial in their total picture off. No hate, just reality.

You know, looking back on it all now, Desean was sold short and underut by the prvivious regime. Rumors swirled the NFL for weeks leeding up to his draft class. Some depreciating things were said of him. Despicable. I wonder how this happened. Idk... Anyways

I don't think anyone would argue that the d Jax selection was not a total steal for Philadelphia. And btw, I predict a Barkley Jackson duo forming possibly in the future. A future in which anything is possible, is crazy. Right?

CORRECTION:PICK # 76 He dropped because of a "slow" 40 time and rumors he smoked weed. Not being a apologist but I think his 40 time relative to his size, they way he goes up for the ball in traffic, and the ability to run precise routes makes him a prototype possession receiver. There's not a lot of difference between KA and Crabtree in my opinion, on or off the field, and San Diego flat out stole him.

Sometimes it hurts a player to delay in declaring for the draft.
IMO KA would have helped himself enormously if he had played one more year (especially in Sonny's pass-happy offense).

I don't care how much water he drank, or how not so good his bro was at QB, KA can play and I can't see how a team wouldn't want him. This is, at the very least, a solid pick and frankly, I think it is a very good pick. Dude can go over the middle, he runs good routes, and I think he has very good hands. There is a place for him on my squad.

Besides the slow 40 and the pot/water concerns, KA21 fell down A LOT this year without contact. He had trouble keeping his feet on routine plays. That couldn't have helped.

KA was a great Golden Bear. He played hurt. Other teams game planned for him as Cal's primary threat. He produced. He will be strong pro. I agree that San Diego did well to draft KA so low.

I like KA in San Diego. If he succeeds in the NFL, he could be a fan favorite, like Desean in Philly.

Being on a West Coast team...means we will be able to see him more on the TV, too...

he'd go in the first round next year. I get the impression that many guys were not in good shape under Tedford and that KA in particular was probably not 100% when he ran for the scouts. A year of intense training under the new regime, a year of being in a passing offense (think Q. Patton), and then a few months of combine-specific training with a sprint coach would almost guarantee KA goes in the first round...unless he really can't run any faster than a 4.7 40, which I doubt. I think SD got a steal if he commits to being a great football player. You could see KA's talent from the UC Davis game warmups (his first D1 game). You really could. I didn't know his number and I could pick him out in the pre-game warmups. A man amongst boys. Those guys are usually just shoe-ins for the NFL.

I think part of it stems from the perception that his playing for Cal depended on us also signing and starting his half brother. On balance, I think we'd have been no worse without him. I don't hate him, and I wish him well in the NFL, but I'm happy to see him gone.

if i were a GM. i wouldnt. teo brings the media hoopla with him, let alone potential chrmistry issues with homophobic teammates. KA is just a diva wr. there are plenty of those in the league that people have learned to deal with
maybe you didn't follow the story closely, but Te'o isn't gay; that angle turned out to be wrong.

Turns out the Keenan "too much water" story was wrong too. They were only re-checking his ankle.

And the "Keenan forced Tedford to start Maynard" story was always ridiculously wrong.

What is true is that Keenan played hurt two of his three years, did not have great QBs throwing to him, and still is Cal's all-time leading receptions leader.

I really hate to see KA go. He could have been a dominant force under SD.
But if rumors are true about Maynard being the QB primarily because KA was on the team - then I am happy to see him leave.
