well to be fair to the WWII vets. most of them are too old or have already passed on. id classify your jokes to be the SMH category, none that you should feel that you should apologize for, but around the same type as a bad racist or sexist joke. just things that most people wouldnt say.

I can write 100 pages on why it won't be "as horrible" as you guys think, but to be honest I just don't have the time. And it's not worth getting into some useless argument about things we cannot prove. All I can say is, I am somewhat of an expert in political science and history, and I like to view issues with logic and critical thinking. That's why I hate blanket, generic statements because they are usually faulty/untrue. There are always exceptions and a millions different ways things can turn out.

well i think like the post above was joking about, the beer and tuba would be better. hitler was very progressive thinker, those that lived probably would have been much richer than they are today. economies would have soared and the world i think would have progressed at a much faster rate. however it would have been under the blood of those such as jews by which hitler wanted to exterminate.

i actually think that in terms of how to run an economy, hitler was in certain respects very very smart, but also very very crazy. can you charactize that as worse? me personally, i would, but i do think that it would have changed the way the world operates as we know today. i think that we would be functioning a lot closer to how modern china functions, except that itd be more advanced.

I'll climb out on a limb on this one and state that unless you sat in a concentration camp, fought the Nazi's, immigrated to the "Mainland" from Japan or had experienced firsthand the terror WWII....you're no expert on the subject. Phantom....I thought the article was funny and considering the **** I've been through the last few years, I'm hardly thinned skinned. I thought it was poor taste on that day alone cause of the seriousness of that day. Otherwise I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I don't think the History Channel was making fun of veterans with running Pawn Stars. Probably more of an age thing then anything else. Jews - I am not even going to go there, this is too sensitive of a topic.

Japanese immigrants - I am not sure when your family left, but there are tons of Japanese immigrants to the US in the late 1800's-early 1900's. Japanese imperialism/ambition was already evident during that time. Why are they allowed to leave and how did they not get killed?

exactly, there are entire movies, Inglorious Basterds comes to mind that bring a certain amount of comedy to WWII. again i really dont think ping owes anyone an apology. just something that most wouldnt say, just kind of a what the heck kind of joke.

my take on the japanese is that their bloodlust wasnt as evident when the japanese were immigrating the the US. my family on both sides came exactly during that time during the late 1800's. however, what has always been evident and actually is still evident even in today's modern japanese society is that they despise japanese that went to the US. even vacationers that are japanese that go to japan on vacation at times are treated poorly even today. even at times in hawaii when i go try to eat at a purely japanese establishment meant only for japanese tourists run by japanese, they treat me poorly so that i will leave. my take is that those feelings were only worse during that time and that they would have killed us, they hated us more than they hated normal americans. in fact, they still do.

the reason being is the reason why many japanese left japan, many japanese that left japan were those of the second born, the first born is the one that inherits everything, the second born is being viewed as almost useless, not needed, in certain respects a slave to the family. the fact that they left, it was viewed as disrespect to the entire family. i feel that those feelings would have culminated in a mass genocide had they been allowed to keep advancing to perhaps even just hawaii. its again arguing on what ifs, hard to know really, but i think i am happy that i didnt have to find out.

1) Why would a person who sat in a concentration camp in 1940's Germany be qualified to judge world politics and economics in the 1960's, 70's, and 80's? Do you even know what the argument is?

2) By your definition you can only study WW2, or poli sci in general, if you're 90 years old?

3) FYI my entire family was affected by WW2, my grandfather fought in the war (for the allies). So, please have a little respect.
