I have zero respect for the NU injury faking. I thought it was pathetic when we did it and I still think it's pathetic. I will be rooting against Northwestern the rest of the year.

Me too. Would be nice to see them lose a couple of close games in conference play just like last season.

yes they did break our rhythm, Goff started rushing his throws.

by and large it's a pretty disappointing outcome but there is a lot to look forward to and to build on, the coaches did a great job. Cal football is back.

I'm not even mad. Two unlucky pick 6's was the difference. Goff looked good. If Northwestern is a Top 25 team, then we have a nice team on our hands.

We might be fine, but based in what I saw - NU will not end the season ranked. Not enough talent on the roster and we looked raw to put it charitably. I think we have a lot more room for improvement than they do.

They outplayed us and deserved the win - kudos to them.

This loss won't ruin my weekend. Hope our guys hold their heads up high. An entertaining game with some flashes of what this thing can be. No doubt they will fix these mistakes....we will be ready for conference play.

I was very encouraged by this game. We looked lost on both sides of the ball in the first half. But both sides played much better in the 2nd. Improvement is all you can ask for at this point.

My pleasant surprises. Oline pass protected much better than last year. No bad snaps. And goff is way way way better than I thought. Lets remember this was his first game and he definitely looked it in the first half. But besides the unlucky pick sixes he played extremely well in the 2nd half. How long have we been waiting for an accurate Qb? How long? And imagine that he's only going to get better every game. Very encouraging. D also played much better in 2nd half. Moala in particular had a monster game.

Disappointments. Run blocking. And bigelow needs more carries. Also we are going to see a lot of tips because teams will copy nu and just have their de not rush the passer and just try to bat the ball on those quick passes to the flats. Also pass rush definitely needs to improve.

Overall we lost because of loss of momentum. We lost momentum on the pick sixes. Lost momentum on McCain ejection. And lost momentum on fake injuries.

If the first pick six doesn't happen, I think we were poised to run away with the game.

Oh well. We will learn from this. And I suspect that after we play Oregon, we are really going to surprise people.

Most ignorant post of the year?

No, but top 10 for sure. Troll esque. Most ignorant was the one suggesting that the NW players would be negatively effected by the cool Berkeley temps as the evening wore on.

Our kicking game was lights out (except for a couple meaningless out of bounds kicks that just ensured no return. Hell, we should have done that all last year. I was impressed with that. Bigelow's drop could have been lost so one of the picks cancels that out. We also botched that reverse in epic fashion. I was pleased. Very entertaining. A lot like Ohio state last year. A horrible call. A pick that kills us late, and some fireworks. We just might squeeze out a bowl game of we're lucky. I hope they don't overlook Portland state.
