So how many projected defensive starters are out now? Eight?

What the heck is going on with the injuries?

I think I read a Tweet from Hewitt that we have one (ONE) defensive starter healthy.

Jackson is still hurt from the block against Oregon.

Some voodoo man in Louisiana obviously wasn't happy with Dykes' decision to leave and come to Cal. We're cursed BAD.

Is this all part of some kind of elaborate prank?

Maybe it's time for us to bring single-platoon football back......

Okay, but seriously can we have our season back now, please?

Me thinks the focus is on next year, and the staff wants everyone healthy. Also, this gets a lot of young players more playing time. Its all about the future.

I was thinking that having Avery go down for the season in the first game was a blessing for him. Gives him a chance to fully recover from that massive concussion. Same for McClure, better to get a year to heal that knee than limp through the season and be either injured or less than 100% possibly for the rest of his career.

But THIS many season-ending injuries to one unit at this point in the season...? Damn.

I'm thinking since he is a very intelligent kid and it's the same knee maybe it's time to focus on his future without football.

Stefan is top student - last year Coach Tedford traveled him as a 'coach' with headsets, something a bit unusual. The day he graduates and there is no NFL waiting Clancy P. will be on the phone to Stefan McClure. He and Spencer Hagan are best friends - tough for both these kids but they both have bright futures as leaders and coaches - I'm holding out hope for a full recovery for McClure, nobody works harder that is for sure -

Frank Gore says hi.

First of all, it's not the same injury as his injury in 2011. Second of all, this is not the 20th Century. Knee surgeries are much better now, and plenty of athletes come back from multiple knee injuries to play at a high level.

My point was that there comes a time when football players have to decide if they want a lifetime of pain and lack of mobility from playing football.

If an out of shape old dude like me can quickly recover from that and be on the ski slopes 5 week later, a kid that came back from much more severe injuries and is in excellent shape should be able to make an easy come back. I think this is a matter of not rushing the rehab and being conservative with treatment, which is fine with me. Typically no major impairment from this type of injury, assuming its really the meniscus.
