Which players will return to this program?

I wouldn't be surprised if we lost some star players. We already had Wilkerson leave. The ones with the inexplicable injuries (Jalil, Scarlett, Forbes) may choose to play under a defensive coach who knows what he's doing.

Also the sentiment of "love Coach Dykes" mentioned by someone is not true across the board. I've heard some discontent and that the team has been falling apart and a decision to transfer at the season's end. I'm guessing that there's not one sentiment across the board. Some probably still believe in him while others don't. For sure, this team is not united.

Only time will tell (like 3 seasons) to see if this change is working.

Dude, open your eyes.

This change isn't working. Everyone already sees it but you.

And some can actually genuinely like SD, but have quite a different feeling about TF, or others, personally and / or professionally.

What a bunch of losers commenting here. What are you doing to contribute to the Cal football team's success?

OK, let me have it. I am probably a loser also, but for different reasons.

I actually just donated some more to Cal Athletics, about an hour ago. Anyone else get a call from "Natalie" a junior, biotech type major?

I see it hasn't worked yet.
I also know that nothing is going to change (as it relates to who our head coach is) for a while, so what's your point?

Don't you have some racial issue to discuss somewhere?

Unless you're captain or in some other position of responsibility -- isn't it wise to leave a sinking ship?

Yup this. Expect a few key players on offense (i.e. starters) who may not be here next year. Dykes has a lot more important things to do this offseason aside from keeping the fan base together...

I don't get why everyone is so freaked out by reports of players not liking the current staff. These guys brought in a new system and it's a change to what anyone who spent 1 year or more under Tedford is used to. Humans hate change. Hate it. And humans like to gossip. This is EXACTLY the same thing you see when a new management team is brought in to a company.

And who is to say that if some of our existing personnel don't fit the system or don't like it, they shouldn't go? That could be a blessing.

For the record, Dykes was not my top pick and I think it was nutty to not get a pro-style coach. DrDanger is right, there is nothing we can do and the ship has sailed.

We already had three players who QUIT on the team midseason in Logan, McCain, and King. Yeah McCain was kicked off but his actions dictated that he quit to the point we he was booted. I've not seen so many players leave a program in the middle of the season before.

King quit before this season and Logan was no real loss. McCain was a problem. These kinds of losses happened under JT.

Who knows what will happen, but you just don't see a lot of starters leaving teams no matter how bad the team is. Some guys who are lower on the depth chart might use the losses as an excuse to transfer, but just look around and see how often large-scale defections of contributing players happen. At the end of the day, going to the NFL is more of a dream than playing for a winner in college, and people aren't willing to put that off a year by red-shirting even if they think they might get better coaching elsewhere. When it comes time to actually pull the trigger on a transfer, that's too much delayed gratification and too much uncertainty.

I can tell you that I will NOT be a season pass holder for next season. I have not been a big donor or anything but I have always supported the program in many different ways as possible. Heck, I even make sure that I purchase all Cal merchandise directly from its online store. What we are seeing this year is the byproduct of terrible financial resource management. I am not sure how they can ever justify the amount of money spent/allocated for Sonny/Buh/Franklin. Sandy owes fans and supporters an apology and should resign.

Would you change your perspective if you knew the parent of a starter and one of our best players has said on another board they will sit down with their son after this season to seriously consider transferring?

When you add that to everything else that has happened this year, it is a serious indictment of the incompetence of this staff. The coaches should be ashamed of themselves. To those of us on this board, we can get upset about this situation, but in the end, we can turn back to our lives. For the players on this team, this is their life and careers we are talking about. They don't have that option. It's terribly depressing and the AD and this coaching staff are responsible for it.

Wow. Like I said, Sonny is driving this program into the ground. The longer we wait, the more the cupboard will actually be empty once we hire someone competent.
