I was shocked by the brutality of that helmet to helmet launching by Skov, and equally shocked there was no penalty called since it was so obvious. is there no way to send footage like that to the PAC-12 for review? We are weak, but that does not mean that anything goes, and Skov and their coach felt they could break bones, cause concussions, and keep passing despite their 40 point lead. They are playing a different game than us.

Also- will the geeky rally committees from both schools please stop that ridiculous stare down around the axe? That was a 50 point difference! Unless you are going to kick their ass and steal it, stop with the stupid posturing.

Skov definitely launched . . . and targeted Goff with helmet to helmet contact.
Goffs head whipped around like a crash test dummy.
Pac-12 refs are clueless.

Against the pac12 for not keeping the players safe by treating the top teams and players differently then the bottom...

Otherwise no.

I may be in the minority, but I don't believe we should run to the officials, Pac-12 vanguard, etc. This is for Cal to fix, not the Pac-12. Don't like being beat by 50? That's for Cal to fix. Complaining about the stare down? Make sure you win. The hit on Jared was egregious yes. Go score touchdowns in the aftermath and stare Skov down. We don't need to go clamoring for help like helpless eunuchs from anyone. I believe in our program and our ability to handle adversity and the challenge to our manhood on our own. Just my candid feelings.

C'mon conservativebear, we don't play in a parking lot. I don't complain about regular calls. This is a safety rule. I played college sports and my son played college sports. What if it was your kid?

I completely understand your sentiments XXXBEAR and you're right on the safety issue. It should have been called targeting. Not disputing that. My point is, since it wasn't ,cool, we'll take care of it ourselves by making sure we try to run up 70 on them next year, at least that's the mindset I want our team to have, is that we don't need external help to ensure that the other team knows that trying that against Cal, will not go without consequence. We'll take care of the problem ourselves within the rules. I believe that firmly.

BS, we lost a player for a game early in the season for the same reason, and that call was bullshit. The officiating on that play was bad, Skovbag and the ref should be suspended for a game.

Follett did not hit Ainge in the head. Still he shouldn't have used the crown of his helmet but in the long run that type of play probably shortened Follett's career.

Our coaching staff should sent that play in and the one where Kline got hit, was on the ground, and then the Dlineman knee dropped into Kline's ribcage. BS. Stanfurd plays like thugs and wins. Very Hairball-like.

is there a such thing as a classy elite team in football?

one of the key reasons for their success is due to playing with that nasty, thug-like attitude when on the field.

I'll take a player like skov on my team anytime. he's a great student and plays with nasty disposition.

borderline dirty hit? part of the game....

I hope so. If he's not trying to kill someone with his vehicle, he's doing it on the field. Dude's gonna end up in a ditch some day, or in prison. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I agree with your sentiment. However, these are separate issues - not mutually exclusive:
1. Pac 12 refs failed to bring Skov to justice for breaking a rule that endangered our quarterback
2. We should beat their ass so we don't have to be too concerned about penalties

Last week on a 4th and 3 (in the 4th quarter) our player ran into the USC punter but informed the official it was an accident IMMEDIATELY.

The official appreciated this information and did not throw the flag.

The official obviously knew Skov made contact accidently so he gave him the benefit of the doubt - clearly no harm intended, and that's what matters.

We select players who think quickly on their feet and this pays dividends. Other programs are starting to follow our model.

Did he tell the cop that arrested him for the DUI that it was an honest mistake? If so I can't imagine them booking him

I'm just looking for consistency in the conference calls. McCain got flagged against NU and outright ejected for that game. It took a reversal later to ensure he wasn't held out even longer.

I want to see that applied here as well. Hold out S. Skov for an entire game (since he should've been ejected for over half of this game) and then hold him out half a game for the Notre Dame as well.

The DUI was an unfortunate incident. No our players are not perfect. Police officers are not very understanding, but football officials are more friendly. Football is a team game and that's what matters

That play didn't affect the game's outcome. It was going to be one-sided either way.

How about those Arizona Wildcats. They looked like one of the best teams in the country yesterday. Good for them, and hopefully we don't have to play them anytime soon.

So are you saying we should've targeted Hogan in the 3rd quarter and no official should've thrown a flag because the game was decided already?

Ridiculous. He accidentally left his feet and launched himself? The rule is there to protect both players, it should have been called. It's very Stanford to think the rules don't apply to you because you are special.

Good clean hit at the time. Now? I'm not so sure.

Follett would have been ejected several times in his Cal career had the targeting rule been in place back then.

This is the best response to a troll. The game was decided already so it's a non-issue? GTFO... I think the boot board is bustling with activity.

The problem I have with that play is the replay booth had plenty of time to see that Goff was targeted, and apparently, if it's not caught on the field nothing happens. What's wrong with that logic? Why do we have replay at all then if the refs don't miss things? If they're serious about the safety of the players, the replay officials should be able to stop the game to correct an egregious targeting hit. That was crap. Who was that moron anouncer who thought Shane used his face mask?

If they're going to do the stare down, then rally com really ought to recruit some tougher looking guys. Right now it looks like a staredown between two groups going after the last Spock ears at a Star Trek convention.

True, but if the rule had been in effect he likely would have adjusted to it and not led with his head, which in turn might have extended his NFL career.

Insult to injury: Slob comes off the field after the illegal hit on Jared and shares a laugh with his teammates. Karma, baby.
