So no competition during spring and fall? Because presumably I would think that there's once again open competition for every other position...just wait until Rubenzer comes in and we'll see how fast Dykes and Franklin go back on their word.

Is Rubenzer enrolling early? He'll redshirt most likely.

Kline would still be #2 in that case. I hope he doesn't transfer.

Slightly OT: the list of RBs recruited by Gould is truly impressive.

Bigelow has as much change of getting drafted as my pinkie finger has a chance of becoming the next head coach of Cal football. He fizzled out this year. For whatever reason.

In the NFL, RBs have to be able to run between tackles, north-south.

Yup, underrated. CJ might be the last back from Cal going into the NFL for a while...the last of the Gould RBs. Kinda sad really because the string of RBs he prepared for the NFL is impressive.

Good thing Sonny replaced him!

Your pinkie finger could have won as many FBS games as Sonny did!

Why people don't understand Gould would've left either way is beyond me.

Cal = RB coach.
UC Davis = Head Coach.

The man was leaving regardless. The opportunity to run his own program (well deserved I might add) plus stay close to home (and even closer to Oregon) plus keep adding to his UC pension was not something Gould was going to pass up.

Look, there are plenty of things to criticize Dykes for but could we at least use some semblance of common sense?

Sigh. You have a point there.

Gould has Cal ties because of his wife so it's no given that he'd leave for the HC job if he was retained as RB coach. I believe he truly loves Cal so it's no given he leaves either way. He's had plum opportunities before and turned them down.

Fortt will declare and he'll get drafted. 4-5 round give or take.

How? Did he kill it for a year or so at Penn State? He hasn't shown much at Cal.

+1

Fired or resigned is not clear. Probably just not asked to stay. Every single position coach on the staff is new, so it's pretty clear Sonny cleaned house. If Sonny wanted to keep a 16-year veteran (and a great recruiter) on staff he could have made it happen.
