Shocked by Winston's communication skills

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I remembered after I won the intramural basketball championship at Cal as a freshman, I gave an interview in front of my roommates and was quite articulate. I remembered to properly thank my teammates and family and kept my faith to myself. I wish these kids would show some maturity, poise and intelligents in these interviews. Guess Winston is not going to be a lawyer or middle manager of a tech company. Total fail.

Funny, during his interview, I turned to my wife and said this kid is imcredible and I was referring to his ability to articulate the crazy emotions of accomplishing the dreams or fantasy of every sport fan.

I least 4-5 times when we first met and now once or twice a year. I was big-time then. I would've have won the MVP, if they gave one. I remember I dribble penetrated into the key, with the intention of dunking or getting foul. No slam duck, but made two clutch free throws at the end to secure the game. It was freaking awesome.

News flash. Not everyone had this racist bitch as their mom:

Also, I've listed my edits to your post below:

"intelligents" and "imcredible". I'm not going to include your poor punctuation, improper use of tenses or other grammatical errors out of respect.

Agree about the infamous "tiger mom."

However, it's not racist to point out that many players in college, especially at low level schools like in the SEC or Florida State, Miami, etc., have a shockingly low educational level. I can't imagine how low Jameis' SAT scores were. What leads to racist characterizations, though, is that athletes from impoverished, African American communities in the South are more likely to singled out for ridicule than an uneducated white kid because of the strong regional/cultural "dialect" (hello ebonics), even though both kids are probably just as uneducated.

In any case, many of these kids clearly have no business in college.

Actually, it's (in American society): Chinese, Indian, Persian, Lebanese, Mormon, Cuban, Jewish, and Nigerian.

To be quite honest though, I have rarely met anyone from these ethnic/cultural groups who were not at least moderately "successful."

You're looking through a prescribed lense. Perhaps, you need to get out and see the world more? There is greatness and failure within every ethnic group, creed and cultural group living in America.

It's all about focus and agenda but some chose to unite us by our strengths while others choose to focus on our differences. This also relates to the topic of this thread. Wax poetic OskiMD.

Jesus! Please reread my original post. I guess my attempts at sarcasm was a fail. After a long day of work, my brain is so fried that I don't really care about grammar, especially on a sport forum where responses are with pictures of semi-nude women.

What I meant to convey is that my accomplishments as a college freshman, sports or academic, pales compared to that of this 20 year old, who just won the Heisman, the NC and probably secured a paycheck that most of us can only dream of. And the fact that he is able to speak to such a large audience (national TV) in such a emotional and exhilarating moment is admirable. I was very impressed with the fact that this kid was able to sit in the spotlight and have so much confident and command of the situation.

We know. We're just messing with you. To be fair, you had shitty grammar and an unclear original point which made you ripe for attack. This is Bear Insider. Worse still, it's the off season. Threads get hijacked. Posters have strong opinions about stupid stuff and one of the things we're known for is fighting. Everyone has an agenda. Also, everyone here was/is a great athlete and would be a better coach in anything.

We just finished a horrendous season and now it's time to fight. Step aside rookie. Thanks for posting your thread. It's on now though.

It's been found that the longer various ethnic/immigrant groups have been in the U.S., the more they normalize to American standards, financially, educationally, etc., so the success of many of the groups listed by Chua probably has more to do with the immigrant experience (harder working, sacrificing for the next generations, etc.).

Groups that maintain their cultural identity and cohesiveness even after generations in the U.S. (e.g. various Asian groups, Greeks, Indians, Persians, Jews, etc.) probably do derive "advantages" from persistence of certain cultural characteristics (such as value towards education and delayed gratification, etc.) that they derive from their cultures of origin. That's not racist by any means, but of course, some people will find racism everywhere they look for it.

I don't really care OMD, I'm just messing with you. I could really use a drink. In the absence of one, I want to fight as an anonymous internet poster.

I've decided I should just watch porn instead and then make myself a sandwich followed by going to bed tonight. Keep up the fight - whatever it is at this point. Good luck with other posters who come online.

Actually, when he read Letterman's Top Ten list on TV after winning the Heisman, he was very articulate. I'm guessing he got caught up in the emotion of the moment right after the game ...
