It looks like we are out of it for Walker and I doubt English was a serious candidate, though I would be very happy if we hired him.

Right now, I'm hoping we get Greg Robinson for DC and Marvin Sanders for DB coaches. IMO, those would be solid hires.

Rumors that Art Kaufman is a candidate - that would be very underwhelming. Not quite a re-Buh, but still pretty underwhelming given our situation.

FWIW, twitter reporting "massive" hire. BI reporting that it's been done, just finalizing contract.

There are just as many people underwhelmed by Robinson. I think no matter who it is 50% will be unhappy, 50% will be happy but complain it wasn't early enough, and 50% will complain about it not being enough.

Hard to please anyone these days.

Kaufman has been successful at every stop. Is he a good long term answer? No. He apparently isn't a great recruiter, but if he can coach up this sad sack D I would take it in a heart beat. Get assistants that can recruit.

Robinson has had VERY uneven performances. And in fact IMO mostly bad. Sure he made the UT D respectable. That roster is LOADED. Its more a condemning of Diaz and Brown that the UT D isn't better. I would NOT take Robinson over kaufman.

That being said I would like ORlando the Utah st guy but there's no Internet buzz

This is pure speculation but connecting the dots (hug hire, surprise, too 3 recruiting class, a big name position coach (per WIAF), I'm starting to think Orgeron may be the guy

Massive would be Ed Orgeron as DC. But I think it will be Greg Robinson. GR makes the most sense in terms of experience needed to fix an unbelievably bad D at this time.

Coach O would be an unbelievable story line. The revenge factor with Coach O coaching against U$c as a Cal coach would be huge...

I thought Kaufman's defenses were pretty improved at both Texas Tech and Cincinnatti.
