I'm hearing (via twitter) it may not happen until tomorrow. Ahhhhhhh! The suspense is killing me.

Damn....I want to know NOW....:p
At least it seems like Akina is coming as the DB coach if you can believe what commit White said in MB's article....

'secondary coach from Texas' and akina are not mutually exclusive...

'secondary coach from Texas' does not necessarily mean duane akina...

Cal needs to get this positive PR out to the public (especially the recruits) w/ only two weeks until LOI Day. It's really going to be tight to rearrange visits to Cal at 5 minutes until midnight. GO BEARS!

It was never supposed to happen today. The buzz about a team meeting being the place for the announcement was just a guess by some. The meeting tonight was scheduled regarding academics on the players' first day back from the break.
Expect an announcement this week but the day is still unspecified. I'm sure they'd like to have them on campus for the next round of visits but after seeing the results this last weekend without the new staff, it's easy to see how all the handwringing was a little exaggerated.

That is true. But Akina was dismissed from U of Texas with the regime change, so we can hope for his services until Cal's announcement. Akina sounds great:

Reports out of Texas seem to indicate he IS Pac-12 bound, just way southeast of the East Bay...
Def. backs coach Akina returns to Arizona
Thoughts?

serves me right for not paying close attention...but that is exactly the type of article i would expect to see in terms of him not being hired at one particular school...

I just am here to share information; maybe Sonny's Texas ties can change his mind? Also, who says Akina is NOT the new DC who will coach DB's like Mason at Snodfart? See, I can spin it positive!

Yeah my fault for not looking at the date. Lol i was disappointed. Well i guess that means all signs point to him coming in.

Darius White quote about "Texas secondary coach" is a sign.
ianbearnson;842266833 said:
this just means our new secondary coach is affiliated with texas. "texas secondary coach" does not exclusively equate to "person who most recently coached defensive backs at texas"
ianbearnson;842266843 said:
fair enough. the signs do in fact suggest that akina is a possibility.
