I still can't completely blame the 1-11 record on him. Well except for the hiring of Buh. Buh and injuries is what i blame it on. I mean who could do much better when losing that many players on defense? Not very many people in my opinion. I want to see how next season plays out with key guys back and a better DC. If next season is a fail then that "trust" is gone

Diaz is a linebacker guy. I don't know if he ever coached db's exclusively in the past, but at Texas, he was DC and LB's.
My memory may be very addled at this point, but weren't Dykes and Akina on the same staff under Stoops at Arizona? I'm not sure, but if so, that may give Cal a bit of an advantage in getting him.

No, Sonny was at Arizona 2007-2009. Akina was at Texas then.

Expect an announcement this week but the day is still unspecified. I'm sure they'd like to have them on campus for the next round of visits but after seeing the results this last weekend without the new staff, it's easy to see how all the handwringing was a little exaggerated.

There are many reasons why people live in California.
1. It is closer to Memorial Stadium
2. The snow is well trained and knows how to stay in its place --- in the mountains above 4,000 feet.
Weather forcast this week in the Bay Area are: sunny mid-to-high 60's.
But, better bundle up for next week when it gets down into the high 50's. :p
Curious that, he, Manny Diaz ends up at Sonny's old school. Maybe he wanted to come with his friends as LB coach, here, and Sonny said "hey, wanna be DC some where else instead?" He says "Cool, where at?" "Why my old stomping grounds, 'G' ". Makes a call and voila. They both shake and Manny departs for La Tech as Art and Akina just give Sonny the look.
