You guys are all assuming something negative and that the guy is dissing us. Maybe he heard we just got a commit at his position. Believe it or not, guys, not everyone on earth is lining themselves up as pro Sonny or anti. Assuming this means something terrible, or attacking the kid as some are doing is unwarranted. Most likely the kid is just trying to make the right decision for himself. Without more, I don't see this as a repudiation.

Looks like his mom was just diagnosed with cancer. I'd leave it alone and move on.

All i know is a few months ago he said Cal is his "dream school". Finally got offered last week and was supposed to visit this upcoming week. All of a sudden we're out? Something smells fishy

Good luck to the young man, whether he made the change for family reasons, or something else. Best wishes in your endeavors, and in 2 years if things change, give us a jingle.

Well, there are some posts implying, among other things, that the kid may not be interested in going to class and that he may not be happy going to classes that may also be attended by other(s) who is/are gay. Maybe I missed something but it seems a pretty far leap to draw such conclusions.

That said, stanfurdbites commented that "everyone here" should be ashamed of themselves. That, too, seems a pretty far leap to judgment.

Good luck to the kid and I wish his step mother a quick and full recovery.

Whatever the reason, if that is how he feels about Cal, we will somehow manage to move on and survive without him. Good luck to him, and best wishes to his mom. We are still Cal, the #1 public university in the world, and it is an amazing opportunity and privilege to be a part of this great university.

You're really going to attack this kid that chose not to come to Cal because of his offer list? Because it's not like we've got a recruiting class that's loaded with OLs with outstanding offer lists. Stop holding such a double standard.
