Recruiting is going better than expected considering our record last year

Im reporting you for excessive positive posting.

Im pretty stoked. A lot will happen in these last 2 weeks, looking forward to see how everything shakes out. It'll be interesting down to the end, esp with our #1 target marcus griffin announcing on LOI day

Immediate playing time is always a selling point to players. That's the upside of having a bad team in the prior season.

Yes, a lot better than I would have thought considering our dismal record though I was in the minority being neutral on Sonny so far...so maybe we still might do something right. I sure hope there are a bunch of posters willing to eat crow when all the dust settles.

Until the LOI is signed, I reserve judgement. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves and set ourselves up for disappointment. (See Tosh)

I think we'll kick ass these next few weeks. Also, I am not drinking at the moment.

D recruiting MIGHT end up being quite good. WR and RB perhaps as good as anyone in the country IMO (I take Watson over Mixon personally). OT and CB are the ones where I think could have been better but there are still some rays of hope with CB anyways

If it's one thing bears do well (other than bitching and moaning incessantly) it's drinking top shelf liquor and getting loaded at games and while on game threads. I commend both of you. Hitting up the Lagavulin 16 now for the SC B-Ball game tonight.

My SC, UCLA and UW underlings will fear the bear tomorrow. Win or lose, they're gonna pay for my hangover.

im cautiously optimistic at this point. they still need to close strong, but theyve been missing on some key guys that would have put us in the "top 3" ie mixon, kolton miller. they also need to confirm on lealao flipping to us. right now we're around 7th in average stars. if they can grab a few and get us to
5th id be happy with their performance regardless of sonny's boastful claims. but right now the only school that is comparable that we have the edge on is UW, beating WSU, CU, UTAH, OSU should be a given for us.


they need to close on fields(treggs cousin), lealao, leniu and griffin. all these guys are highly rated and would boost the credibility of the class and average star ranking. all of them we seem to have a good chance of landing

What was expected? We're ranked #9 in the Pac and #54 overall. In the Pac we're ahead of WSU, Washington (who has 1 less 4-star) and Colorado.

its not going to happen, our competitors are likely to add to their classes as well. i think a modest and more realistic goal would be to jump arizona and arizona st in the average star rankings to 5th. we're 9th in total rankings but thats kind of bs because it takes into account quantity rather than quality. 7th in average stars

Plus JC recruits aren't really rated. Happy with what the class will turn out to be.

Top 3 is probably not realistic but if we can be in the top 5/6 (we're 6 or 7 on average star value depending on site) that's not a bad result given that 1-11 abomination.

i was just referring to FF's post?? but i follow recruiting pretty closely, so i care....id like to see us close strong and get those 4, 4 star guys that i mentioned. if we do, it will likely put us 5th, which is a minor miracle considering our season last year. it has a chance to be a good class and if they finish strong it would be an outstanding job on the part of the coaches and sonny and staff would deserve some credit for it.

I disagree. It would be a major miracle.

If we pulled in those 4 it would exceed many of our recruiting classes under Tedford. Here's hoping

i actually don't care much for rankings. guys like Kolton Miller were unknown guys until the end of the cycle (and suddenly received another star). i don't think identifying talent is a weakness for this staff, and it wasn't an issue for the most part either with the last staff.

biggest issue i can see is that we're very weak recruiting OL and LB. not all coaches have been affected the same, recruiting-wise, by a 1-11 season.

Like I said, forget the rankings. We're getting the players the coaches want and need.

Plus, JC players aren't really rated. We're getting some good JC players

I also don't care about the JC rankings. But I'm baffled by the fact that our JC verbals are so lightly-recruited by major programs. I remember when JT was heavily recruiting the JC ranks, he was consistently pulling in 4- and 5-star players.

We only lose 2 OL in Tags and Tyndall. We return 4 FR OT who red shirted last year. We are bring in a center, OG, and JC OT... lose two add 3...

As for LB we lose 4 and we will get 4. Watch for us to close with 3 more LBs before we are done.

well i disagree that we're getting whoever we want and need. miller and the other jc OT were our first choices. granado was a plan b guy. leniu wasnt our first choice, calhoun was. pickett was our first choice cb, we got white. harvey was our preference at wr and we got brown. its not to say that these guys we got arent arguably better, but i dont think your statement is accurate
