I agree. The only reason for the hearsay rule is to protect the right to cross-examine your accusers. Since we as internet warriors have no right to cross-examine anyone, stating that we should not rely on hearsay seems odd. Otherwise, since we couldn't cross examine anyone, we couldn't rely on anything. In fact, unless the person of interest comes on this board, every statement made by anyone not on this board is hearsay. Would make for a very boring board.

Sorry to beat a dead Tosh on the Year of the Horse, but if I recall correctly, it was Sandy and JT that brought the discipline up after news died down. We do PR so well at Cal.

its on sonny. im pretty sure sonny and sandy know that tosh would not be well received by the fanbase. if sonny wants him bad enough and thinks that he can help him on his staff, then as a supporter of the program, i want sonny to have what he wants. i wouldnt be a fan of the move but im sure sonny would have a much better idea than i would as to the risk, reward to hiring a tosh. fans say theyll never forgive until we win, then people tend to put these things on the back burner. sonny and sandy know this im sure.

I'll count them when they're productive. Right now it stands at 3 players over how many seasons?

2008 - 2011, so that's 3 productive players with a number more still to be determined. You don't want to count the ones where it's still TBD, fair enough... how about these guys I missed in my first take: Kendrick Payne & Aaron Tipoti.... both solid starters.
That's now 5 solid (or better) starters (one of whom was a consensus All-Pac12 WR & budding NFL star), over 4 years already... with the potential to add more as his later recruits enter their JR/SR years.
If every assistant coach nailed at least 1 solid starter every year with an occasional star mixed in on top for good measure, I'd call that productive recruiting.
If you don't agree, then I'd be interested to hear what your definition of productive recruiting is......... and which assistant coaches in any PAC12 program have met that standard (I won't limit you to Cal coaches, go ahead and cherry-pick if you want). I'm guessing the list is pretty short.

Don Pellum - UO
Adrian Klemm and Angus McClure - UCLA
Ed Orgeron - USC

Pretty sure they weren't going to do much until Tosh admitted that he did it in the press.

This is simply inaccurate. Any d lineman on the team will tell you both tosh and the entire team were blindsided by him being thrown under the bus.
TKDBear;842273725 said:
All great recruiters I agree, but as luck would have it none of them can claim more than 5 proven Pac12 starters since 2008. Granted, some of them joined the Pac12 in 2009 and will undoubtedly surpass 5 starters once their more recent recruits enter their Soph/Jr years. But if you're only going to "count them when they become productive" then none of these guys is there yet, with the possible exception of Orgeron prior stint under Petey.... Which I'm not going to dig up, but will concede.
So congrats, you found one guy. The rest are still TBD.
slider643;842273769 said:
You are incorrect. UCLA's underclass OL is almost all Klemm. That alone is more than Tosh and Klemm has only been at UCLA for two seasons and he recruits more than just OL. McClure's guys are all over the starting lineup, especially since he was there before Mora. Pellum's players have been all over the starting lineups over several seasons. He's been around before Kelly and maybe even before Bellotti.
TKDBear;842273822 said:
I agree with all of the above but it still doesn't add up to more than 6+ starters for a single coach since 2008. If it does, name the 6+ players by coach.

There is no evidence that Tosh can recruit students to Cal. He has recruited football players to Cal but right now Cal needs students. I don't think Tosh knows how to do that. He relates well to the type of players that don't relate well to Cal.

I gave you the names of better recruiters whose recruits actually produce(d) on the field. As you requested. If you believe Tosh to be their equal, you're welcome to your opinion.
I don't want Tosh anywhere near the program because he seems like an envelope pushing scumbag who is a false step away from bringing down a program. Even if the hire was based purely on recruiting ability, I would take any of the other coaches I mentioned before Tosh.
TKDBear;842274013 said:
I asked you for 6 starter's names by coach and you couldn't give it to me. You're entitled to your opinion as well, just just don't pretend it's rooted in actual results over the last few years unless you want to post the names as I clearly asked you to do. There's plenty of reasons to not want Tosh around the program that I won't fight with. But saying he wasn't/isn't a productive recruiter isn't one of them. Scumbag, unethical, not our type of guy? I'll agree. Didn't recruit productive recruits? I disagree.
Don't agree? LIST THE 6+ NAMES BY COACH! The fact that you haven't is already evidence that you can't.
