I was wondering if any one knows if Oski is available for non-Cal affiliated events? I didn't see any where online, so if someone is in the know I'd appreciate the info. Thanks!

You want a guy in a bear costume, that gets drunk through a tube that goes down his eyelet, to do a kiddie party? Sounds good! I can picture an Old School kiddie birthday party scenario.

Yes he does. I looked into getting Oski for my wedding. He was too expensive. I opted to get the cal band instead. They were roughly the same price.

Oski was too expensive? I always thought of him as a bit more blue collar than that.

The CAL Band is an excellent choice and provides better entertainment than a silent drunk bear who just walks around posing for pictures.... And drinking a lot.

Oski made a cameo on the dance floor at my son's wedding reception. His younger brother (both went to Cal) "brokered" the deal with Oski, which was a secret to the wedding party and almost all the guests.
The best part was, the mother of the bride was a Stanford Dolly...and the wedding was in Woodside.
It was epic.

I should probably re-phrase. It was too expensive when compared to the cost of the Cal band (which seems like better bang for your buck).

I was quoted $500 for Oski. Cal band was a little more (plus the cost of feeding them with top dogs) but worth it in my opinion. The cal band members who came were great; they played for at least 45mins-1 hour; we were only expecting them to play for 15 mins, but they asked if they could play longer.

I don't get the problem with this.

Then again, he does walk around in Khakis and a Cardigan.

For an extra $100 you get to pick from the Oregon, ASU and USC squads. Only way this is worth it.

Top Dog caters. I had them at my Big Game tailgate at the Farm once. Best investment I've ever made for a football pregame

How much?

All i need is to rent a football team (any bunch who will do that can lose by 60) and I can replicate the Cal game experience anywhere!

I had mentioned to my wife in the pre-wedding planning that it would be awesome if we had the Cal Band show up shortly after the ceremony. I just suggested it and it never got legs.

Then, the day of the wedding, I hear Cal Band music during group photos right after the ceremony. I think for a second and tell my wife that our friend handling music before the reception must have accidentally played my Cal Band music playlist... Until I start screaming to my fresh new wife "no, that is LIVE, that is LIVE!" And I then see the Cal band round the corner in front of us! Wife planned it all secretly! That is still one of the best surprises of my life. Quite a memory it will always be!

I was left to procure the Cal Band on my own for our reception. Actually, who knows if my wife would have done it, but I didn't want to ask, in case she and her parents didn't like the idea.

Two months before, I collared two of my close college buddies who still have some "juice", handed them a blank check made out to the Cal Band and asked them to make it happen. (Giving somebody a blank check, for what was the first and, almost certainly, the last time in my life really made me feel omnipotent, btw.)

At the reception, only the three of us knew, but as anybody started to leave a bit early, I urged them to stick around a bit longer. When the Band arrived, I had to sneak a peek at my in-laws, to see what they thought: Everybody loved it!

That was a Friday evening. The next day was a Saturday and a bunch of us went to the Cal football game, which turned out to be the Marshawn-drives-the-golf-cart game against UW.

Need I even add that I am still happily married?

Go Bears!

Similar story here - but it was not a surprise to me or the wife, but our guests. The ceremony was outdoors in SF, overlooking the bay. As soon as we kissed/were pronounced man and wife, the Cal band burst from out the building behind us 2-people wide, got to the end of the aisle, and then split and lined the crowd. They played for a few minutes and then followed the wedding party down the aisle and played for a while. My wife and I then got a picture with them - probably the best wedding picture of all time.
