Yeah starting a true frosh at QB isn't a good idea
depends on the QB. a lot of teams have gambled with their frosh QB and have seen them excel. and agree with fresh. if Dykes doesn't turn things around immediately, it's do or die for him, and i wouldn't count out the possibility RBZ sees the field.
as for the RBZ v. Manziel comparisons, here are the stats again:
Johnny Football225/343 for 3559 yds, 44:5 (TD:INT)
171 carries for 1695 yds,
(avg. 9.9), 30 TDsLuke Rubenzer227/308 for 4200 yds (avg 18.5),
61:3 (TD:INT)155 carries for 1235 yds (avg. 7.97), 10 TDs
worth noting: Manziel didn’t have any star receivers on his team, and he was also their best rusher. in other words, Manziel was Tivy's offense.
Manziel is a better runner, and much more elusive. RBZ could turn out to be a much more consistent passer.
though any time you're comparing a true frosh Heisman winner and once-in-a-decade type QB against a incoming frosh, it's bound to be skewed....let's just say RBZ will be great in his own right, and if he even becomes half as productive as Manziel was at TAMU, Cal will be lucky. i'll leave it at that.
