seems like the washington QB is a little bit high no? how much did he even play
wonder if its based in part by their OL returning / performance etc

Thanks for posting but the article is really dated.
We'll know the real rankings in January but, really, who cares about pre-season rankings.
Goff will be much better than last year, especially if the OL comes through and he gets time and a running game. The WRs are experienced and the new guys are showing a lot.

It's an absolute joke to have him at 10 and Miles ahead of him. Goff is legitimately 6 on this list, but to be honest he is probably even higher. Go look at the highlights from the NW game and see some of the throws he makes.
He is one of the best in the PAC, but even with my homer glasses off, he should still be no worse than 6.

Doesn't really matter. When you go 1-11 you become an afterthought to the experts. Feel slighted? Win some games.
Don't think that much of Cody Kessler, seems like more of a game manager type for SC, and not a great one at that. Not sure he fits Sark's offensive system either. Miles probably rated that high more on the potential he showed last season and what people are expecting from the Huskies under Chris Petersen.
I actually like the kid Sefo Liufau from Colorado, Saw him in two games last year... the Buffs don't have a ton of talent but he's a pretty good college QB that kept them in some games.

Absolutely correct - it is all about the Ws. In reality, this year there is Mariota, then Hundley, then everyone else. Goff is certainly on par with the other 9 - except he has only won a single game. Give him healthy running backs and a healthy defense that keeps the other team for scoring early and often and forcing us to play catch-up from the first quarter, and he will look amazingly good. The OL play this season will be a plus.

Sonny said as much in his last video: stop the early, easy scores,
but he's encouraged at the progress of the DBs, for what that's worth.

His long passes have mostly been of target. Hopefully he impproves this year. So far not impressed.

I believe Goff has all the tools to be the best the Pac-12. He's not there yet, and it will also help when he has a productive OL and running game. He's got a slight build so hopefully he's putting on more weight. However he's got good height, solid arm, very accurate, can be elusive on the run, and good touch (although he has to work on the long ball -- but that also could be a function of the time he gets from the OL). He's got more skills even at this young age than the typical QB at his age (Rodgers was one of the other guys who seemed to be polished even early on; maybe Longshore too early on). He's tough and pretty much survived the whole season relatively unscathed until the Furd game.

Alternatively, no QB on the list has ever looked as bad as Goff did in the Oregon game.

He could turn out to be the best QB in the conference this season if the OL and running game are at least decent. Both were horrible lease season, and he still played quite well, especially for a true freshman. I'm not worried about Goff, but I am worried about the OL, the running game, and the defense. All should be better than last year, but will they be enough better to cause a significant improvement in the W/L column?

That is simply not fair. Goff was the QB during a hurricane!!! The rain was coming in sideways. Who could throw a ball or even handle it in those kinds of conditions. When he was finally relieved by Kline the rain has diminished and the score was already out of hand. Some of that is due to our defense..in fact, all of it.

I'll say this for Goff, 2015 shapes up really well for him,...
He could lose some of his top WRs. But Dykes knows how to recruit WRs and already has 2 worthy commits between the 2014 and 2015 classes. Plus Cal should still have some seniors available that don't go pro early. I'm thinking of Powe, Harris and S. Anderson...at least. Technically Treggs, Harper, Lawler and Davis will still be eligible. Add in Hudson and Austin from the 2013 class and we look solid. QUOTE]
You're assuming Treggs, Harper, and Lawler won't be playing in the defensive backfield.
