They're basically saying we should win 3 games. Interestingly I think it was at 3.5 -110 at even juice. If I could see myself rooting against my team late in the season, I'd have put a large amount at under 3.5. Not the house though because miracles can and do happen in sports. Also, the players might be hyped to redeem themselves and play well despite the poor game plans and bad coaching. Sports gambling lines have trouble reflecting emotions such as redemption. This line at 2.5 with heavy juice is trying to draw in under betters. So it's like there was lotsa optimism they want to balance out. Vegas is very confident with that 3 win number

Wow I mean you think Sac State would already be 1 so we just would need 2 more. I would bet big on the over. I think we're going to be much improved esp. with Kaufman (Buh is a great guy but was way in over his head) and another year of tTFS.

The odd thing is that they could have just moved the line to 3 flat -110 but I guess it's harder for them to make money. But the bigger thing is that these lines are usually generous to get local fans to bet overs. I think even with the -150 juice they're getting more action on the over. That tells me they think a 2 win season CAN happen with decent odds

might bet my big winnings from betting against Cal last year on us to win three games this year, woo!

Fair

The sports book doesn't have emotion, and, in general wants action on both sides of the line. I think this is simply reflective of looking at the schedule RIGHT NOW and saying "Cal will be a favorite in the Sac St. game and the Colorado game" and none of the others. So, if you "bet big" on the over you can philosophically believe Cal will win at least one more, but its certainly not a given (thus the 1/2 lol) because you can't put your finger on a specific game (or two)that is an "automatic" win....
I would expect that the Washington game would be the closest line right now, so you could argue that is the first winnable game to get you to 3 (I am assuming the Colorado win). Lines move-Cal comes out and beats Northwestern, then of course it goes to a different place. Many of us believe a very much improved Cal team will be in place in the fall...Vegas is happy with those of us who believe that and make a wager...

If you can find it at 3.5 AND 2.5, wager both and you can't lose .... If it lands on 3, you "middle" it and win both wagers. This is where savvy bettors can get ahead of the books.

I think we have a chance to beat four teams: Northwestern, Sac State, Colorado, and BYU. It would take a lot of luck to beat all four. But it could happen.

Personally, I think we beat NU and Sac State, and maybe get lucky vs. either Colorado or BYU.

If Vegas is right, that'll do it for Dykes & co. Since this is Cal, and nothing ever goes that smoothly, I'd bet 4-5 wins and another off-season of misery, wondering if Dykes will ever turn the corner at Cal.

Unless the result is anything other than 3 -- then the Over and Under bets will offset but you will lose the juice on one of the bets.

haha people must betting the under 2.5. the line moved already. the over is now at -140 instead of -150
