perhaps lost in all the debate about whether Sandy stepping down is good or bad, is the last sentence in the ESPN statement...

"Barbour will remain at Cal and set up an academic program in sports management on campus"

Is this a new degree in the Cal undergrad business school?
If so, that would be cool

A Sports Management program at Cal sounds like a good idea and a solution for getting student-athletes involved better in academics. If the program is run rigorously and with Cal academic standards, it sounds like a good thing.

Unless of course Buh gets promoted to AD, in which case he will manage Sandy.

Chronicle says so...

Sounds like more than a class, but a program. Hmm.

Can our current student athletes take UC extension classes for real NCAA approved credit? (You know since manziel apparently took online classes last fall so he would have to step in a real classroom and be bothered by the masses).

I work for Extension. I believe it depends on each department whether to accept Extension courses for credit. Some departments have a tighter relationship with Extension than others, and may even have some of the same instructors.
