Welcome to internet sports fandom/trash talk, and unabashed partisanship. Take a look around and make yourself at home. The general idea is we're the good guys and everything they do is bad.

Some would even say it's not like the real world... Go figure.

But bringing up OJ to make us feel superior to USC is OK? I live in the real world and I'll call out hypocrisy when I see it.

Who? I know there is a former Cal football player in prison for killing his gf/wife (who was pregnant maybe?). Are there others worse than that?

buuuut, it could work out in their favor as next up are two very talented frosh: Seymour and Hawkins.

Sark goes through the motions "Shaw's actions is not representative of the values of U$C...blah blah blah...suspended for 1 game...etc."

Shaw: "I've let my team down, I'm sorry for lying, etc..."

Seymour and Hawkins end up as All-Pac12 guys by end of season. Shaw is then forgotten.

You guys are all missing the most important point.

Whatever the reason he ended up jumping off the balcony, he saved his nephew from drowning....or he totally would have if there had been a swimming pool, if his nephew for some reason had jumped in the pool at that exact time, and if the police were not trying to stop him from doing such a heroic act.

So, while we are all busy passing judgment, let's not forget that an innocent child is now safe....even if he was never truly in danger.

Richmond, you probably have a gameday t-shirt that reads "Stanfurd Sucks!" on the front and "But Cal Sucks Even More!" on the back.

Since you asked...

I was referring to Robert Rozier, Cal's very own racist serial killer. Murdered 7 "white devils" on behalf of the Yahweh Ben Yahweh cult. He was a defensive back for Cal in the 70's and played in the NFL as well.

Jeremiah Parker helped his girlfriend beat her 4 year old to death, but he only gets the bronze medal of evil in this group.

And Mariet Ford killed his beautiful three year old son in addition to his pregnant wife. Bashed his skull in. But he was part of "The Play". So it's still OK to cheer for him when it plays on the big screen at Memorial.

Rozier, Parker, or Ford are hardly famous Cal alums. That being said, the most obvious difference (which you fail to recognize) is that no one at Cal is defending or supporting Rozier, Parker, or Ford. That is in stark contrast to USC and OJ. I'll never forget attending a game - after the Simpson murders - where many on the USC sideline were wearing "Simpson" jerseys with the no. 32 on them. As recently as 2002, OJ was "warmly" welcomed at a USC practice by Peter Carroll. http://articles.latimes.com/2002/dec/29/sports/sp-oj29

In fact, it seems OJ is still a featured celebrity on USC's website and in Heritage hall. https://visit.usc.edu/on-campus/athletics/

If you can't see the difference (and instead feel its appropriate to denigrate Cal), that is more a commentary on you than Cal.

The biggest difference, which you can't see, is that OJ was Acquitted and the Cal guys were found guilty.

Why wouldn't someone who believes OJ was framed by a racist LA police force continue to honor him?

And how am I denigrating Cal by pointing out that we have our bad actors like everyone else?

That explains a lot about your point of view. To be complete, OJ was acquitted in his FIRST criminal trial (which is not the same things as being found not guilty), found civilly liable for killing his ex-wife and Ron Goldman (which means a jury determined he did in fact kill them), and then convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping. He is currently in jail.

And for the record, the fact that OJ was acquitted is irrelevant. He is universally regarded as a horrible human being - and a murderer - and he is apparently welcome and honored at USC. Cal and Cal fans do not similarly honor or support ANY alum who has a similar background. No one defends Rozier, Parker, and Ford. THAT is the point.

As an aside, the cops who beat Rodney King and George Zimmerman were acquitted. Would you defend a person, organization, or group that wanted to honor any of them?
