Funny Fitz saying the made proper adjustment (for Rubenzer) after the break. I recall Rubenzer did not get in the game in the 2nd half until the last drive, or that he did not take that many snaps in the 2nd half.

I don't get it - why is this a big deal? He gave credit to Cal for their play and said nice job to the press for not revealing it. He wasn't whining about it or making excuses. He wasn't being entirely truthful about shutting it down (because Luke was out of the game != shutting it down) but this is all pretty tame. The stuff he said last year after the win was much worse.

Obviously the NU Internet trolls weren't reading the boards very carefully. There was a fair amount of chatter about Luke seeing some significant time (I remember a couple arguments over blueshirting him when he was named "solid #2") How hard would it have been for NU to imagine Sonny D was being serious and at least prepare for the possibility that our coach was not talking out of his arse? NU fans should be livid, especially over the lame excuse.

Honestly, from the scale of 1-10 on the probability scale of using Luke on the 3rd play of the game is probably close to 1.

Did you miss the part about relying on bloggers and beat writers for scouting information? For a guy getting paid $2.2m/yr with a full staff of professionals who are trained to scout and be prepared, it's clear the guy is making excuse for his own incompetence.

Considering that a key part of his "defense" strategy last year was repeated "injuries" (which can't be compared to our one (1) against Oregon), is it any surprise that he relies on social media in its many forms for his game prep info. The rope holding up his pants is frayed and failing and he's being exposed by his own words. NU football has bigger problems than questions about unionizing.

I think this is the same guy who bragged they were going to beat Cal this year!
