Nice! I challenge anyone to complain about this kickoff time. (Wait a minute - this is BI.... I'm sure someone will come up with some nitpick).

Easy. I have two complaints:

1) Delaying notification of kickoff times to 12 days in advance means you can't buy plane tickets at decent prices. A roundtrip flight from LA was about $150 last Friday, but is $280 today.

2) A 3PM kickoff means I can't fly up-and-back from LA on the same day.

All good points, this 10 day before game time announcements have lightened my wallet a bit this year in extra hotel nights, car and last minute air...15 days would be more reasonable as you are able to catch the 14 day advanced air on most carriers..sorry we will miss you up here!

Oh, I'll still be there. I'll just have to drive. I made hotel reservations for Friday-Sunday months ago (free cancellation).

Bad for me, with a 4PM wedding to attend that day....:headbang

Looks like it will be on the Pac-12 Network again. That would make 5 straight. ESPN and Fox must be still skeptical of the draw of Cal Football. So far they have missed out on a couple of exciting games, though.

Great! I can go to sleep drunk by midnight on a game day.

BUT----on the other hand --- a 3 pm start means you could drive from LA and get to the game in plenty of time: 6 am start gets you to Cal by noon. 7 am start gets you to Cal by 1 pm. Plenty of time to park and have lunch.
Then the money you save on airfare will cover your overnight hotel room.
BTW i have taken this trip in reverse driving down to Cal vs. USC/ucla games.

I don't see how you could have made the game that day (unless you skipped the wedding or the game were local and a 7 pm starting time).
12 noon start (highly unlikely) would not be over until 4 pm. More likely 1 pm start would not be over until 5 pm.
7 pm start could allow you to make the game if it were local and you skipped most of the Wedding Reception.

You could catch the 8:10 from OAK to LAX but it would be tight

And it sucks for me because my kid has a soccer game at 4pm.....but would have been an issue for 12:30 too

Well, we were 1-11 last year. Also, the other Pac-12 games to choose from were Oregon-UCLA and USC-ASU. No way our game gets taken over those matchups between ranked teams.

I shoulda checked the full schedule before commenting. I would've picked those other games too. With our schedule backend loaded, I'm sure we'll get our fair share of ESPN/Fox games in the second half of the season.

I prefer the 1 PM starts as was the case for the Colorado game and used to be the case for just about all games for decades, until television started driving start times.

The 1 PM starts allow for the games to be played during the best weather portion of the day and also allow for a good time (~7:30 PM) for a Saturday evening dinner at a nice restaurant or for a nice evening dinner with friends and family at home. A start time later than about 2 PM is likely to disrupt Saturday evening dinner plans, especially when attempting to coordinate with others, and the short notice (12 or 6 days) makes planning even more difficult.

We have not had a kickoff around this time in a while...this is good.

I think there's a very good chance we'll break our P12 Network streak on 10/18 when we host UCLA. There are only three other P12 games that day: Washington @ Oregon, Stanford @ ASU and CU @ USC.

Right, when we play USC, UCLA, Furd, Oregon, we'll be on the bigger networks most likely.

I and many people I know prefer the later afternoon or evening games. With kids sports in the morning and/or afternoon on every fall Saturday, the later game times is more conducive to doing both. A late dinner after a 3:00 or 4:00 game or early dinner/tailgate before a 7:30 game is fine with me.

I'm going to go back to the fact that this is awesome. Perfect time of the day for a football game.

Was hoping to at least be able to watch the game on TV...now I'll have to sneak peaks on my phone via Dish network/sling adapter! :cheer
