after our scores. Wouldn't that of given us a better chance (or probability) to win. I know this is ridicules but so was Halliday vs our defense. Of course the ultimate irony would be when Leach seeing this, would start doing the same thus two teams on side kicking one after another but as offensives become more sophisticated to the point of being unstoppable, shouldn't this be considered.
In a way isn't that why Leach tried it when he did, feeling his defense had came out flat and since there was, in his mind, no way he could change the momentum, he simply kept his defense off the field. It swung the momentum around.
I know this will never happen but if our defense remains porous, should we at least consider doing it more often, especially in shoot outs like last night just to steal a possession or two.

Maybe our onside kicking team is really really bad. Judging from what I've seen that's a likely case

the onside kick that worked for WSU caught our front line playing 15 yards off the ball rather than 10. That was the only reason the kicker was so untouched when he covered it. Leach had his players closer to the kick to avoid us doing the same thing in response.

This isnt a video game. Coaches dont coach in a vacuum. Kicking repeated onside kicks tells you that you lost faith in the defense and, in turn, they will lose faith in you.

Personally, I think coaches should probably attempt 1-2 onsides kicks a game where the kick is attempted from a standard formation and not the 6-4 formation with the max players on one side. I think that the element of surprise would help out the regular kicks too as the front line has to at least be prepared for the onsides before setting up for a return. plus... you may get an extra possession out of it. Of course, if it became too common, then it may stop working as teams just prepare better for it.

why are you always so against people asking questions? especially one that asks a legitimate question about strategy?

OP. it feels like we'd end up squibbing the onside kick and giving WSU really good field position. i don't think that's something the staff felt worth bothering with.
