Interesting to go "around the league"....

Colorado is near perfect - my favorite campus in the Pac-12. Just a gorgeous backdrop, nice public plazas, spacious, what's not to like?

The Oregon schools have solidly "good" campuses. I'd give Oregon State the nod over Oregon.

One of my co-workers joked that the 8-lane freeway that runs right through UCLA's south campus "is there to make students from Irvine feel at home". It's an amazing campus in spots, but it loses points for being so car-friendly.

Hate to admit it but furd belongs near the top of the list. Money can buy a lot in this department.

I just realized USC reminds me of ASU. They both have that grid layout with palm-tree-lined walkways crossing past a mix of new and grimy old institutional-looking buildings. I actually like ASU's better though. ASU's campus is more spacious and its backdrop is the mountain and Tempe Town Lake, while USC's is a homeless guy pushing a shopping cart on Figueroa and flipping you off.

UW? "Red Square" on a rainy day is as ugly as it gets. Not bad otherwise, though.

My daughter goes there. She got accepted to Cal, UCLA, Georgetown, and Boston College. It broke my heart she didn't become a Bear but Cal's refusal to guaranty entry into the undergrad business school to a freshman was a deal breaker. She loves it there and the strong school spirit. I have visited the campus many times. To tell you the truth the environment at today's USC seems closer to what I experienced 40 years at Cal than what I observe at Cal today when I attend all home hoop and football games.....but during parents' weekend I will be in my blue and gold in the Cal section rooting the Bears on. No USC garb will ever touch my body and my daughter understands.

My daughter had the same goals, plus she wants to do production work. Sc has a special program for that and hands down the right place for her. As for campuses, Cal is awesome no doubt. I have heard Oregon is nice. Personally, I think SC has a much nicer campus than UCLA. The latter is too sterile for me. While SC has some modern buildings, they are decommissioning them for nicer buildings styled older to match the bulk of the campus. They have done a good job stretching the boundaries outside.
