Salt Lake city has more diversity.

Salt Lake City is not Utah. Neither is Park City, by the way.

I'm surprised that you have to ask.

Not surprised at all given many of the comments.

After being a student, I lived in Berkeley and commuted out pretty far on Ygnacio Valley Rd in Walnut Creek... took me 45 minutes, 25 of which was getting out of Berkeley. I would have taken BART had there been anything remotely like decent public transportation from WC BART to employer (even with the transfer at MacArthur) but, alas, none to be had. Oakland, if you are near the hills or Lake Merritt, or Alameda are the real gems, especially Alameda. During non-commute hours, 15 minutes to downtown SF by car or 25 from door to station if taking BART... 35 minutes to Haas (25 through Berkeley) by car. Alameda has some very pretty neighborhoods, parks, and a beach.

Ironically, San Francisco has far more of its denizens using the sidewalks as a toilet than Berkeley.

It is concentrated in a few spots in both cities, but far more widespread in San Francisco than in Berkeley.
