Your baby may sleep through a lot of it. My baby who is now 16 went to big game at 9 mos. He was awake early and checking things out. When it got really noisy he crashed out. It's a memory I cherish. The pictures are still treasured. Do it!!

In previous years I have read people suggesting to bring baby earmuffs.

I brought my 7 or 8 month old to a Cal sports bar for Zach Maynard's first game. First play of the game, I believe Maynard threw an interception. The bar erupted in disgust. My infant immediately started screaming and crying. It was a long game for my baby, a long game for my wife and a really really long season for the rest of us.

IMO babies can sense emotions very well they know when their parents are happy and when their parents are angry. Unfortunately Maynard all too often summoned up feelings of anger.

Any young parents care to share any tips? Our first born is about to turn one month, so will be 2 months old at beginning of the season. How doable is it for those that have done it? Best section/area to sit? I've always sat in young alumni or student section but changing a diaper in a porta-potty just seems like a nightmare.

Honestly, you should leave the kid at home, or better yet, watch the game from home. Still developing immune system, too young for most vaccines (including MMR for measles which is given at 1 year), etc. Antibodies from mom (if breastfeeding) is the last line of defense. Why subject your kid to an environment where s/he will probably be exposed directly to at least hundreds of people? But what do I know, I'm just a guy from Maryland...

One highlight that our daughter remembers, even though under a year when we started, was the pre- and post-game Cal Band.
Kids in the band love little kids and showing them the instruments ... glockenspiel is usually young girls and they had fun showing/playing with it.

Absolute must - sit close to the band - ideally just behind it.no game days in even moderately hot weather. Never, ever take a kid under 8-10 to a road game or bowl game where the opposing fans are jackasses.

I had a great time with our then 6mo old. She needed a floppy hat, the baby bijorn (very cozy & hands free for me), ear protection and shady side of the stadium. Even went solo sans wife. Walked around some and only stayed 2 or 3 quarters.

I have a great set of pics and great memories. Lots of other babies over the years in our section.

I even joked about going to the UT game while we're both still off work and wife seems open to the idea, but not sure how rowdy or good of an idea that would be with an infant, haha. I would just love to be there.

Excited to raise my son a Golden Bear!

Supplementing what I have said elsewhere. You appear to have the right attitude. You seem involved in raising your child and you are looking forward to take your child to Cal games.
Ignore the NegaBears and go for it.
Otherwise you will have to live with the regret of not having done it.
We Dads get only so many moments with our kids. Moms seem to get more. At least you will have some great moments.
Even the seeming bad moments can turn into some classic memories. "Remember when you were 4 and you .......; it was hilarious. "
