Reimbursement request from 2012 season:

No big deal if it was a dozen or so people at the table.

Upon further review it was only 1.

It looks like it was several coaches and "the most interesting man in the world". He ordered the Dos Equis.

Maybe he chose to have 40 shots of Patron that night.

I see a new commercial coming on:

"He once drank Steve Sarkisian under the table at a Mexican restaurant...and chased it down with a bottle of Dos Equis. He is the most interesting man in the world."

from the ND boards:

Quote:

I attended UW for undergrad before heading to ND for graduate school. I could litter this board with stories of Sark's shenanigans. A few that immediately come to mind, and understand these are well known within UW circles:

-- At an Army All American H.S. game, Sark and his assistants (Wilcox, Sirmon, and of course wingman Nansen) rented a party bus, showed up extremely inebriated, and then proceeded to get kicked out.

-- The week of the Oregon game in 2011, Sark and Nansen took about six sorority co-eds out on Lake Washington until the wee hours of the night, got absolutely hammered. Scott Woodward (AD) was seen berating him the following morning about it. Two days later, UW played hated rival UO and honored the 1991 national championship team at halftime. Like every time Sark played Oregon, he got blown out and cried in the locker room afterwards.

-- He was a regular at a bar/restaurant called Joey's, where he was famously known as "Tequila Steve" with Nansen being "Johnny Patron." Sark was involved/dating at least one of their waitresses. He was married this entire time.

-- Sark also got drunk at the great Don James' funeral. He tried to start a 'Go Huskies' chant at the memorial, offending everyone in attendance. This is when I think the old/big money finally had it with him.

Boosters gathered like sharks to buy out his contract after his 3 game losing streak in 2013 (he had a 3 game blowout losing streak all 5 of his years there), but Pat Haden stepped in and saved the day.

I will give Sark credit though, he is an *incredible* salesman who has gotten so, so much out of accomplishing nothing besides Not Being Tyrone Willingham.

The sad thing is that by all accounts he very well has a serious drinking problem which shouldn't be mocked, but given his public persona and SC affiliation, it's bound to get worse as the knives come out. In a perfect world he would take a leave of absence and get some medical/mental help but I would be shocked if that happened anytime soon.

Yep. F him.

USC is in a real pickle on this. The obvious thing for all parties would be send him off to rehab and have him take a few months off to let him address his personal issues Cant exactly do that with the season starting in 2 weeks.

Well, they could but that would require someone at U$C to have and show some integrity... nope not going to happen.

Yeah, I mean, sympathy for the individual (because humanity), but as far as for Sark the coach and the college he works for, this is funny. As others have stated, though, crap, they'll probably end up with a better coach in the long run. Haden should do the right thing and work with him on this. I mean, alcoholism is a disease, right? You shouldn't fire somebody because they have a disease! Maybe a contract extension would help ease the pressure on him, so he can work out his problems. Fight on!

i wonder if any of his players have grown up with people battling drinking issues .. will he lose control of the locker room ?

About the only thing worse here would be for an SC assistant coach to be caught cruising for underage hookers in west Oakla . . . . oops, wrong team. Although Sarkesian is the face of SC football and his position is a lot more pubically forward than Ingram's, nobody should be getting too self-righteous about all this.

Seven Gin Sark might want to give a call to Ed Orgeron for some advice. Orgeron was also a legendary alcoholic and partier who went deep enough into the abyss while at Miami to get arrested and have some serious problems. It seems that Orgeron found the path to sobriety eventually. It's interesting, in retrospect, to see how USC passed on a guy like Orgeron who had beaten his demons and was hugely popular with the USC fanbase for a guy who everyone knew had issues but was doing nothing to address them.

The Sark 2015 Index

12+ wins - like it never happened
10 - 11 wins - short suspension after season then like it never happened
8 - 9 wins fired after the season for character issues
- 7 wins fired midseason for character issues

Somebody posted here that Sandy Barbour and a group were loud and obnoxious at Casa Orinda after a game, so it's not surprising how many stories are already out there about Sark. Would have thought that UW or 'SC would have got him into rehab. That would be the minimum expected response to a CEO getting sloppy at an important meeting. Makes zero sense in this era for public figures to behave badly even in meetings closed to the general public.
