Safety lowered his head but it was pretty obviously not intentional. He definitely deserved a person foul but not to be ejected.

glad we have a little bit of depth this year. we can probably absorb a bad call. probably just a matter of time before we get one of those

Gotta disagree. There was helmet to helmet contact. They had no choice. He had to go.

Anything that makes football safer is a good thing. The alternative is no football.

Whether it was intentional or not is irrelevant. Helmet to helmet is against the rules.

I was downstairs eating and missed the live play. I just saw a replay and the Utah St. player should have absolutely been ejected. He speared him with his helmet to the head with his arms down. Easy call by the ref.

Utahs freshman wr looked pretty impressive until he got knocked out. That kid might pose a problem for our secondary. Pretty quick.

If I ruled the world penalty would be yards/1st down and you're dq'd until the guy you hit returns. That way severity wouldn't be subjective. Ute receiver already came back in.

Utah state's qb is playing on one leg. 2nd game of season. Is their coach nuts?

This is flat our wrong. Helmet to helmet contact is not, by definition, illegal (assuming the crown of the helmet is not used). Targeting is illegal. Helmet to Helmet contact happens all the time because players are constantly moving in unpredictable ways and penalties are rarely called.

Targeting requires apparent intent:

"Target—to take [U]aim [/U]at an opponent for purposes of attacking with an[U] apparent intent[/U] that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball."

I dunno. I thought the Utah st safety tucked his head and used his shoulder or tried to land the contact was cause the WR dived. And prior to that pass everything else was screens for that kid

So the player who did the hitting is all world and the guy he hit is a walk-on. You think the coach would put him back in?

Who cares? If coaches want to play walk on receivers hoping for a helmet to helmet hit more power to them. I think performance disincentive is enough to prevent that to large degree. There's no perfect solution but this would have less opportunity for disproportionate impact (like tonight) while preserving the disincentive for these hits because the dq could be substantial and precisely because you'd open yourself up to gamesmanship by your opponent.

Yeah, I flipped over just in time to hear about the glorious UW recruiting class.

A few years ago I used to think Keeton was the 2nd coming of Colin Keapernick, but with all his injuries he has regressed alot.

They're gushing over this McGrew kid and he's very productive at this level but I just can't see him as an impact P12 RB. Looks like a strong safety or maybe somebody who could bulk up and play lb to me but it seems he doesn't play on defense? Is he really Fargas 2.0?

Watched some of this game but overall I wasn't overly impressed to say the least. I hopenthe Bears roll them

DLS/Servite and SJB/CC games are both uninteresting blowouts. SJB/CC is slightly better, though, and we get to see Beck.
