Compare to Max Gilliam's stats thru 4 games. Max played more like 3 and a half games because he was pulled early due to blowout wins.

I am sure that the other P12 teams took note how Goff's injury stopped Cal's O in its tracks and how we had to keep playing a clearly handicapped Goff because we don't have a proven backup QB yet. It is telling that SD would not use Forrest for even one series in the 4th quarter against a tiring Texas D. They will undoubtedly be targeting our huge vulnerability from now on. I would like to see Luke moved back to QB for both insurance and his considerable O skills.

Surprise surprise. Stop Goff and you stop Cal. Who'da thunk it. 😛🐻

I dunno man its been a freakin goff love fest by the media and announcers this yr

Goff has gotten lots of love, but not in this game which was supposed to be the big national stage for him to show what we've all been watching for years. Watched ESPN Sports Center and their College Football Recap show. It was the typical SEC slobberfest. The only mention of our game or Goff was showing Goff saying "Oh s____" and "Oh f____" on the sideline when Rose missed the extra point. Not a single word about his performance (They did talk talk some about Heard though).

Looks it's fine. Not like Goff doesn't get plenty of praise but he was brilliant in that game and deserved better.

I'm not so sure our conservative play was a result of Goff being hurt. Have a hard time calling it an injury when still in the game, and until there some definitive word that he's injured, like to the point of not playing...

I seem to remember us being conservative beforehand, certainly in other games last year too. Finishing, dagger in the heart, is an area of needed of improvement, or as we say in the workplace... an opportunity.

Sorry, but none of this is correct. 100 out of 100 cfb coaches will play their starter as long as he's not concussed and it's a close game and he can go. If medical clears him, there's no reason to sit him. Doesn't matter who the backup is. You're statement that Pac-12 coaches will draw some sort of conclusion from that is wrong.

Interesting but not too surprising. I'm always quickly reminded why I stopped watching those those things.

I think the announcers showed a picture of Rosen on their "Heisman Watch" before saying that Goff should be added next week. lol

Dude its like you guys never seen him play before Goff has always worn that brace on his lead leg. Its to prevent i jury when he steps up in the pocket

One guy who didn't wear that brace was Riley, who tore off half his calf muscle in his last game. But then I was also just noticing that Andrew Luck doesn't seem to wear that brace in the NFL, whereas he did wear one at Stanford.

I talked to Goff after the game on his way to the team bus. He was gracious (like all Cal players) and gladly agreed to taking two pictures with me. Here is my observations:

3. I asked him specifically if he was hurt. He said, "I am fine, I am fine".

Good to hear.

Hey Cal89, you must be happy with Goff's completion percentage this year! over 70%!

INDEED! I posted on this topic, probably in a couple different threads recently.

Between that and rushing at 5.4 yards / carry, the offense is looking damn good...

This is the easiest 3-game stretch of the season, so we can probably expect a bit of a fall-off, but 65%+ looks very achievable for sure. SD and TF wanting around 70%, heck, that might happen, and if so, we'll win a lot of ballgames.

I've been watching our 3rd down conversion rate, which was 46% in 2014, I believe 27th in FBS, so very respectable. We are a tad over 37% now... Against SDSU, just 20% (2/10). It's still very early... Hoping we can get a little more clutch on those money downs. On 4th down, we lead the Pac, the nation actually, 5/5! Tied with Miami and Florida...

This offense can be very special. I really hope this offense does its thing next week in Seattle!

Franklin talked about the big step forward Goff is taking this year in running the offense, and Goff or Lawler talked about how much they worked over the summer to practice their timing (and I'm sure all the subtle signals they use). Now that they've played a tough away game against a P5 opponent, it's clear that this offense can do ridiculous things this year. I bet we're going to see them go for it on 4th down a lot. It's clear the coaches have total confidence in Goff. That pass call to Anderson near the end of the game was a good call because they knew Goff could deliver it, and Anderson is a reliable targetwho made an uncharacteristic mistake. I think we're going to be dazzled a lot this year with these gutsy calls.
