Very nervous about this game as it quite dangerous. The only positive is that Texas came back which should be a big kick in the pants not to get complacent.

UW has not been a kind place and it's one of the worst places to get behind early.

Another chance for an emotion hedge. Love it!

Does this mean you bet on the Huskies and then "win" either way? I have sometimes thought that might help me get through the game...

Yep, one thing I do like about the close win this past Saturday is that our guys are not going to be relaxed going into Seattle like they might have been if they had won in Austin by 2-3 touchdowns, they know they have to play more aggressively going forward. I think bettors are taking this into account.

Sports betting is really hard. I had Cal -6. So I was looking decent as we were up 7 in the waning moments (I was really looking good only 20 minutes in real time before that). Once Texas scored their last TD, I still had a chance if we had gone into OT and scored a TD + extra point right off the bat, and we stopped them from getting a TD. But Texas missing the extra point ensured that the bet was lost.

Or, if Anderson had just held on to the third down pass Cal would have covered and you'd have won the bet.

Yup depending on the lives of 18-22 year olds (or more if BYU, Utah or Utah State) is an iffy proposition.

T/O margin may be good, but placement is horrible. Saturday a TD taken away as our runner coughed up ball at goal line and JG was sacked and lost ball around our own 5 = 14 points. Not a 'turnover' per se, but the offside on the recovered kickoff was another momentum buster which had points for us written all over it.

If Adams had not overthrown a wide open receiver in the endzone, Oregon is undefeated and in position for a playoff run, they are still lethal despite the lack of a DL.

Yup, I watched the game as a Pac-12 fan... My comment though was about Oregon's 3rd down efficiency. Against the Spartan, not quite 31%. Last week, (Georgia State) 33%. A far cry from last year's near 50%...

Interestingly, Utah converts 3rd downs nearly 48% of the time, the best in the Pac-12. Oregon's D looking much worse than last year thus far...

If this game were in SLC, I'd take the Utes. As someone here said, Utah swept the LA schools last year. They also beat Stanford, again (back-to-back). I'm quite sure we haven't done that in a while... Oregon, with recruiting classes at or near the top of the Pac-12, Utah with classes in the bottom 1/3. They are a physical, well-coached team...

The game is essentially a toss-up, and uDuh will toss-up their cookies after they lose.
Cal is learning a lot after the VICTORY over texASS.

Would like very much to win, and convincingly on Saturday, by at least 14 points. That said, one would have to go back nearly 15 years to see CP lose at home that badly... In Seattle, UCLA and ASU got them by 14 last year, Stanford by 7.

Our TO margin is positive for the year, and penalties, less than 5 a game. After leading the nation last year in penalties, and having a negative TO margin, that's a solid difference. An offense 7th in the nation doing 51 ppg, meeting a D that is currently leading the conference in points and yards allowed...

I'm sure the guys remember 31-7 at CMS.

Edit / Add: Was hoping to find some recent video on their true freshman QB, Jake Browning. This high school vid came-up... I know, high school, but he is clearly very good. He has a deep ball and touch, looks off DBs, feels the pocket well, and is plenty quick on his feet. I even see the "typewriter" feet on this kid... Our Troy Taylor looks to have done a nice job.

Seems weird saying it, but given who we have played thus far, this true freshman is likely the best QB we will have faced...

Texas QB is going to be the best QB we face all year I suspect. Good enough passer and Vick like running moves.

Wife, I watched Jake Browning's high school tape a couple days ago, read articles about him, what Troy Taylor has to say, then watched him last night against Utah State. As a pure passer, in the pocket and while on the move, rifling it deep, or dropping it in with touch on shorter routes, I couldn't believe he's a true freshman. He was scanning the field, and smartly threw balls away when the situation dictated. He had a pick, and took a chance with an impressive x-field completion, but all learning material...

If there are open Husky receivers this Saturday, and he has any semblance of time, our offense will have less margin for error.

He looks like a very special player and QB, in the truest sense of the position. The 60 minute condensed version is of this most recent game is on tonight at 8 pm...

Cal is favored by 4 points with an over/under of 61. That is a prediction of Cal W 33-29

Oregon is favored by 14, at home, over Utah

P S; 57% of bets are on Washington to beat the spread

Last year, Cody Kessler was a much better QB than Heard, and Kessler is still the same guy, if not better.

Heard is just a good raw athlete who our sieve defense made look like superman. Lots of QBs have looked incredible against us the last 3+ seasons. Going 9-27 over 3 seasons heading into this year means we made a lot of QBs look amazing.
