Does anyone still think Goff is better than college Aaron Rodgers?

AR = greatest QB of all-time, barring injury

Goff = good college QB who will probably have an NFL career as long as Pat Barnes' NFL career

That's a pretty wide gap.

Are you serious? How far back do you go? AR is not the greatest college QB of all time and that's what we're talking about here, college not the NFL. Come back when you put your big boy pants on. How many Super Bowl rings does Rodgers have, how many does Montana have. End of story.

Agree.

Aaron Rodgers' WR corps was very subpar. Sorry to Jonathan Makonnen, Toler, and the others, but none of those receivers would be within our Top 5 WRs on this team. Even Chase Lyman had like one or two good games only, and then he got injured.

Geoff McArthur was a 2nd team All American, you call that subpar?

I was talking about AR as a quarterback, period, which includes NFL performance. That's why I mentioned "barring injury," which pertains to future performance.

Yes, if AR retired today, his accomplishments would not put him at the top of the all time greats. However, I was projecting out into the future. It's not that difficult to imagine, given AR's achievements, numbers, and level of play thus far. He is already the #1 overall QB in terms of career average pass efficiency, and I see him (barring injury again) playing another 10 years with at least 2 more Super Bowl wins. In fact, this season should be another Super Bowl win.

It will be interesting to revisit these thoughts and thread in a year's time, if that prediction is realized into fact.

AR made him great, but yes, I had overlooked MacArthur. I think, though, that part of the reason MacArthur got such excellent numbers was because there was no one else to throw to at that time, particularly after Lyman's injury.

If MacArthur was on the current Cal team, I still think Lawler would be the #1 WR target. Maybe you disagree.

And why are we having an argument about what Cal great to denigrate more? Stupid. Is your mother more or less of a bitch than your grandmother?

How about both of them are awesome? And no offense to to anyone's mother or grandmother, trying to make a point.

My grandmother is deeply offended by your post. My mother, not so much...

Goff is not as good a college QB as Rodgers (though he may be if he were to return).

I know this is sacrilegious, but I wouldn't rank Rodgers as the best Cal QB of all time (though may have been had he returned for his senior year).

Just looking at the college (not NFL) performance (including leadership, not just personal statistics), I think the following had better Cal careers: Kapp, Morton, Bartkowski, Roth.

(Note the first two on my list had weaker supporting players, in terms of future NFL talent, than either Rodgers or Goff).

Until you give him a team comparable to the ones Rodgers had, you cannot really compare adequately. Rodgers had a great line at Cal. He also had some good defenses two. That helps out a ton.

Agree. Our OLine is terrible. Take a look at so many plays rushing lanes are wide open. Pocket collapses into the QB. No time for Goff to go through his progression. No holes opening for running game.
With this OLine Rodgers would be no better than Goff.

Just on eyeball test alone, the best college QBs I ever saw in person. On the basis of "it" factor alone: Aikman, Elway, Marriota, and Rodgers.
