I do and it is that memory that makes me so disappointed now.

1. We knocked their QB out of the game. In general I seem to recall us hitting hard but just being out of position on defense. A problem we thought could be fixed by switching DCs. I remember thinking, "Wow, we play hard and tough and fast."
2. Our special teams scored a TD on the first fake FG in more than a decade. I remember thinking, "Wow, this staff takes chances and executes."
3. I remember NW being so exhausted with our pace of play that they had to fake injuries just to catch their breathe. I remember thinking, "Wow, our style of play and our fitness is going to give other teams problems."

I see absolutely none of the above now. And I can't remember when I have last seen any of these traits from our team.

This is why I think it is time to part ways with Sonny and it is why I thought we needed to part ways with Tedford. When a coach loses his way his team doesn't exhibit the traits that they originally brought to the program. The traits that as a coach you hang your hat on. I have no idea what those traits are anymore for Sonny and his team.

Thats not true. He whooped on Portland State 37-30 the next week, showing what the TFS could do against even the toughest competition (A game we were LOSING half was through the 3rd and were unable to score to finish it the entire 4th quarter).

One of Dykes' greatest comebacks.

I went to that game. Along with the good things you mentioned, I remember a lot of bad stuff too. I remember Goff throwing a deep interception like he's done several times since. There were also the two pick sixes off of tipped balls, again things that have happened since. I also remember the targeting call on McCain and Dykes b1tching at the refs. I also remember us losing.

You see differences between then and now?

I thought the bad stuff would be coached out of us especially as we got more experienced. What I didn't expect is that we'd play slowly, tentatively and without much excitement. Basically, the traits that Dykes touted have all disappeared. Now he needs to.

Given where we'd been the previous season, going toe-to-toe with a decent Big 10 team was encouraging. Then the rest of that season happened.
