This bowl game is really going to be a grater in the locker room, the defense will have to undergo some intense preparation to handle the triple option while the offense just needs to show up to score.

Riley would have done fine in the TFS. Remember, by the time Riley got to Cal Tedford was changing QB mechanics but not working with them to complete the changes as he was with Boller and during his time as OC/QB coach at Oregon. Riley was a good passer when he came to Cal and Tedford eroded his confidence during his 5 years. Every other QB after Rodgers was treated the same. I even remember my buddy thinking Mansion and Sweeney having some sort of arm injuries when he watched them for the first time warm up before the UNR game up in Reno. Tedford implemented mechanical changes and neither kid could throw the ball confidently the rest of the time they were at Cal. I'm not sure what the opposite of a 'guru' is but that was Tedford at the end of his Cal career.

Riley was pretty accurate while scrambling and he would have to do alot of that in the TFS. Plus I'm assuming an immersion-type education for a QB in the TFS from Day One when making such a claim. Tedford loved changing OCs and QB coaches and Riley was a "confidence" type of QB and most likely needed stablity in these areas.

Some people may want to downplay those long bombs against Air Force, but those were Big XII quality throws to me.

We have the number one QB in the country with some great receivers. We also have some pretty good RB's. All you people can talk about is our poor defense and what happened in 2007. So we didn't beat USC,UCLA,Utah,Stanford, or Oregon. What we did do is beat seven teams. I am tired of spin doctors on here with all kinds of convoluted reasons why we won't win. Loser monkeys think that way.

Agreed, think we should be able to win this one.

The mountain west was truly horrid this year. Even if you think we are pedestrian at best, we should win by at least 3 touchdowns.

A scrambling QB with a triple option attack. Gee this should be easy-peasy. We shut down every running attack we faced this year....right....????... (crickets)...(crickets)

Yeah, I really miss the good old days when Teddy and Pendy shut down Nevada, twice.

Sure the issue is yes we must slow that running game down but much more important we have to have a solid passing day. With an early lead it should be lights out for them. If they stay close or lead we still have more outs than them on O to catch em. This game is about our passing game efficiency.

They are likely to control the clock but my guess is we slow them down in the red zone and hold them to FG's. We need to convert in the red zone and score TD's.

I don't think so. He had such hard time throwing a screen/swing/sideline pass. That's what TFS is built on. I agree about Tedford ruining his confidence (mechanics, the Tedford mess up v. Oregon State and the clipboard, not letting him play with Longshore hobbled, back and forth between he and Longshore in 2008) though.
