Tim,
Sorry you are going through this. There is a lot of science behind the dietary advice that heartofthebear gave. A month ago a major international documentary came out called TTAC presents The Truth About Cancer . The website is www.thetruthaboutcancer.com . It features over 100 top doctors and scientists. There have been huge advances in recent years. Some are not mainstream yet allegedly because there is not enough money to be made off of them. It is worth an hour of your time.

A reminder to fans that colonoscopies are necessary and infrequent (every five years if nothing is found) and the preps keep getting easier.
Lost an older brother-in-law to colon cancer because he was too 'embarrassed' to get them.

Agreed. I put it off for years because I was afraid, and then when I finally acquiesced, it was no big deal, and fortunately showed no problems. Do it. It's a very important health precaution for those over age 50.

Hi Tim.
Wow, your post hit me hard, but I'm glad I rolled over here to the Football board and found it. I've often thought... how many of us are there that one day suddenly aren't a member of this community and nobody notices. I was thinking that GreyBear could go thru the databases and pull those names that were heavy users, and then suddenly not. Some folks have been reported as having died, either by those that knew them or in one case an offspring had their signon, I recall. Couldn't GreyBear make a post of All Time Greatest BI'ers now in the sky? I want to be a member of that board one day. My kids are growing up know that Dad is ConcordTom - and maybe someday somewhere there will be a memorial to "ConcordTom", my alter ego. I wanna be there with you, AlamedaTim. Just not for a very long time!

If it helps you, I got diagnosed with cardiac artery disease in May at just 46. WTF? As Shocky would say, too many Sean Miller donuts (lol). But truthfully, I'd rather think its been too much sitting around on the BI page. At any rate, I found out that the typical remedy of preventative stenting doesn't extend lifespan (though it's life saving in the event of a heart attack). Instead, Dr. Conrad Esselstyn of Cleveland and rural NY (and many others like McDougal of Santa Rosa and Dr. Dean Ornish of Sausalito and Cardiologist Kim Williams of Chicago) say that the vegan lifestyle is the best solution. Read The China Study, watch Esselstyn's talks on YouTube, or many other things with this new thinking.... Which says this: Eat Vegan. The western diet with oils and meat, even the "Mediterranean Diet" is not only a cause on my condition, but apparently yours as well.

Perhaps one day I will suddenly be gone from this board, and then you can all wonder what happened (here's a clue).
In the meantime, you may want to think about eating lots of lots of greens like I do. I dropped 40 pounds to a more svelte 180 without doing anything else (note: I'm still seated on BI - easy to give up the Blondie's Pizza, less so BI.) My cholesterol dropped 40% to completely low levels. And I've likely begun to reduce my risk for many forms of cancer.
So, Tim, endure and overcome the process of anything they have to cut out. And then don't let it come back. Food is your #1 medicine!

Our post-counts will be WAY beyond KoreAmBear's by the time we finally get to figure out who each other really is, up in that great Memorial Stadium in the sky. And guess what? It's eternally the Rose Bowl, and Cal is in it, with Grandpa still playing in the band, still marching down Colorado Blvd.

Hey Tim, I hope you will try and give us updates. You've got us all involved in this now and we will be worried if there is radio silence (of course I know that won't always be possible). Stay tough, keep positive, and hey there is next season to look forward to right?

Well Tim, absolutely not goodbye. Know this is a ridiculously hard day, as I faced the same diagnosis in 1997. Stunned, I moved ahead with a great team of medical specialists taking over. A wave of support from my husband and our friends cheered me through the rough days. I missed the 100th anniversary Big Game at Stanford, scheduled for surgery that Saturday, my surgeon donning a 49ers surgery cap. I am here today to suffer and cheer for the Bears.

Take it one day at a time. Seek support from those who, have walked the walk. Doesn't hurt to remember "the Bear will not quit". Good luck Tim.

Tim, just wanted to say that when I saw your post yesterday, I immediately began thinking of you and what you must be feeling, your family as well. Be confident and strong, regardless of any findings, and don't ever give-up on anything in life, including, and especially life itself.
