Just announced on his Twitter that he is going to graduate and transfer to another school. Obviously a hit to our LB depth.
Sorry on phone and can't link.

Are we gonna run a 4-1-6 next year?

Players transferring out..always the sign of a healthy program...Negas vs Pumpers..LETS GET IT ON!!!!

Seriously. Starters wanting to transfer out even after they finally get a winning season speaks volumes about the state of the program.

What do you want him to do? Spin his wheels for a year so we can be entertained by his talents. He doesn't owe us that. The problem is that Cal doesn't offer half-assed one year Master's. That is something to be proud of. I just hope he doesn't end up at Furd.

I want cal to run a program that drives players to want to hang around and not bail the first chance they get. This isn't a statement about Barton but about the state of the program/coaching.

So Football before education? Sorry, considering the risks they take, I think that's backwards.

It may say something about the player.
Most likely.... He wants to take a phony baloney 1-year masters...or he can't get in to a legitimate masters program.

How about everyone showing a little class and wishing Mike well instead of assigning your own personal biases as to the reason why he's making the grad transfer? Give it a rest, people.

Geez MB, you are a little testy. I don't think anyone is criticizing Barton for leaving. Some have wished him well. But his leaving does bring legitimate concerns about LB depth, recruiting and coaches, especially in light of other notable team leaders transferring via grad route like Sebastian and Scarlett. It's not an isolated incidence. If you have problem with folks asking these questions (not directly at Barton), why do you even bother hosting this forum? Maybe you should make it clear as a ground rule that no personal biases are allowed on this board.

Look on the bright side guys, maybe Missouri and South Carolina will turn him down and next week he will announce his return to Cal! We have some recent precedent.
MoragaBear;842617872 said:
Get real. There's been plenty of stuff said about both Barton and how crappy the staff and program supposedly are.
Worrying about depth is one thing. Throwing out pejoratives at him or the staff when people have no idea what they're talking about goes well beyond that.
