Is it Dykes or Franklin who call some of these idiotic plays?

Why would anyone EVER do a QB sneak with Jared Goff? I love the guy, but he is slow, a fumbler and also you just cannot take a chance on him getting hurt....

Dykes called the timeout, and I have never seen a designed QB run all year.

remember the Shaq Thompson play? Goff fumbles on the 1 and Shaq takes it all the way back for a TD? That should have been the last Jared Goff sneak ever!

You have a very short memory.
Goff did a designed QB draw up the middle in the previous game at ASU that netted a 2 point conversion. The difference in the game, as it turns out.
Goff also had a designed run on 4th down that surprised the Huskies in Seattle late in the game to preserve the win there too.

Duh.

Yes, but then to call a trick play to the kicker right after breathing a sigh of relief that Goff's elbow was called down (which was the proper call, but close)? What the hell did they expect the K to do with it?

Overall though, the play calling was pretty good.

The TE Hudson was going to release to the right. Anderson was to throw it. They just didn't execute but I had no problem with it.

They put up 55 points and very well could have put up 70 had they not let off in the 4th. Let it go. Have you ever made a bad decision in your life?

Okay, at the time of this post we had a 7 point lead and after the botched fake kick we failed to score on the drive, so way to comment out of context. Based on your inane drivel on the other thread, I will now leave this thread and not return.

This was the low point of the game for us and afterwards we were solid and Goff was spectacular, so I am a happy Cal fan and will enjoy the victory.

So, you basically have no idea what you are talking about and posted prematurely. Apology accepted.

It was not a great time to make that call (if there every is a good time). I figured that calling for the fake field goal was somewhat prompted by that mistake.

I didn't like the QB draw call either, but mostly because (1) we called a timeout before running it which gave them time to discuss it and (2) we didn't spread out the D with 5 wide outs.

I'm somewhat OK with the fake FG call (obviously poor execution) but would have preferred that we just lined up and went for it with our regular offense as I think our chances would have been better with Goff and crew out there.

I wasn't happy with the slow down at the end of the game. I would rather we keep pushing and score one more time. But then again that's just my thoughts.

I was watching the game at a bar sitting next to a guy who coaches high school football.
Just before the Goff run ( where he almost fumbled ), the guy says; they're dropping back in coverage, run Goff. And thats what they did. Good play, poor execution.
As for the fake Field Goal, I have no problem with it. Not a bad call, just poor execution.
Thankfully, there was a lot of great execution.
