I once tried to play basketball in the peoples park in 1969. I was told to leave because I was not one if the people. Cant wait.

People’s Park is among 9 targeted sites for UC Berkeley student housing. The Oxford tract between Hearst Ave. and Virginia St. is the favored site:

They need to replace lost parking. How about garages under these buildings? They keep taking asay parking and not replacing it.

Yup, they need a lot more parking around campus. There's a project to renovate the Center St. Parking Garage in downtown that will add an extra 270 spaces.

The project is complete with a new Taco Bell Cantina at ground level, next to Top Dog. It turned out to be a gorgeous building, imho, in an area that badly needs some new life. Rent cost, however, is another issue.
The SouthGate apartments on 2526 Durant Ave:

Least exepensive unit is $2950 a month. You could probably find houses to rent out for comparable prices nearby.

There is a massive new student housing complex going up soon across the street from Speiker Plaza replacing Stiles Hall & the neighboring parking lot.

Swimmers and water polo players could move there after 30+ years in Unit 3.

Wurster, Evans, and Barrows are way too ugly. Were better off in East Germany.

Funny enough, there's another dorm planned for the property right next to Legends.

There are going to be some really angry football parkers if/when Upper Hearst parking garage goes bye-bye for student housing.

I'm not aware of anything to replace Wurster or Barrows but Cal's long range plans does include the replacement of Evans with two smaller buildings that will restore the view of the Golden Gate from Hearst Mining Circle.

Cal was previously looking to add another facility for basketball practice but it's safe to say these plans are on hold.

Wurster was just renovated so they're not going to do anything to it. They might do something to Barrows eventually (and some students have expressed happiness at the prospect of getting rid of it for historical reasons connected to Prescott Barrows), but they just recently installed the Matrix on the top floor, so I don't think anything will happen soon.

I wasn't aware they renovated the Lipman Room in Barrows, it's well done but has more of a corporate feeling rather than an academic one. Wish it was there when I was going to school.

You're not allowed in unless you have a meeting/are employed there.

If there's any place that needs to be renovated on campus, it's Hearst Gym.

This is a wonderful improvement to the Evans Hall site and campus area.

Barrows needs a visit from the wrecking ball, too.

Also, a new green area at the base of the twin pavilions, on axis with the Campanile, will complete the east end of the Memorial Glade.

Owner of the infamous empty lot on Haste and Telegraph is in negotiations with UC to build a new building dedicated to student housing.

The deal for student housing at this site fell through. It's still empty and now Kriss Worthington wants to put pressure on owner Ken Sarachan to build.

They keep building over parking; it fu**in ridiculous. There's no parking for sporting events, as they've built over thousands of spaces. Any parking or recreation space like tennis courts is a dinosaur.

Wurster is pretty cool. Barrows is bland, but nowhere near the hideous eyesore that Evans is.

A new 7-story building proposal is currently under review and will be located on Channing Way and Telegraph Ave, right next to Rasputin's. The project, called "the Den", will be used for student housing with the ground floor reserved for commercial retail.
