Good for Coach Tedford. Best coach at Cal in decades. Miss him.

Wow, the disrespect for Cal's coach with the most wins ever is amazing. Show some class, folks.

Also the most losses ever.
Of all his years 2002 and 2003 are my favorite. I had never known Cal to beat Washington. I pulled over on 880 when the game ended....it was so crazy, I had to take a minute.2004 was fun, but nothing as shocking to my Fandom as 2002/3. That's when Tedford was the most "Tedford" to me.KoreAmBear;842672351 said:
Great guy. Represented us well. From 2004-2008 he had us in the BCS convo year in year out. After that the wheels came off, he was stubborn and lost his way. I only wish him the best.

I wish nothing but the best for tedford. BOTH sides needed to move on. I do wish we had done better than the clown crew.

Tedford was Cal's coach for 11 years, his tenure was like a Shakespearian tragedy--5.5 years on the rise followed by 5.5 years of decline. The pivotal moment being the 2007 OSU game--Cal momentarily #1 but RS freshman QB in his first start makes a mistake and then is benched for the rest of the season as we proceed to go 1-5 the rest of the way playing the injured starter, losing the Axe and almost losing the bowl game until finally the backup is given another chance. The rise was amazing--teams full of future NFL Pro-bowlers--including a team that had Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch in the same backfield and a Top 10 defense in only his third year. The fall was tragic--including getting stabed in the back by the young coach that, of hundreds of kids that had played for him, he had given a shot "et tu Tosh."

Yup that was the Fighting Tedfords period, no doubt about it. 2004-2008 was the BCS period. 2009 and beyond was the flying around out there period.

2005 Ayoob was getting boo'd and eventually benched, 2007 we won only 3 Pac-10 games and finished near the bottom of the conference. 2008 was Longshore vs Riley QB controversy...and a trip to the Nut Bowl. 2004 and 2006 were the near-BCS years. So close.
Sorry for the microagression!

That was a great 2005 team with one missing piece, at QB. Oregon, OS(U), and UCLA would have been wins were it not for lousy QB play; the difference between Cal and USC that year was that they had a QB and we didn't; the rest of the team played them extremely tough, even though it wasn't reflected in the final score. 2004-6 were all near-BCS years, IMO.
2003 is still my favorite year. Tedford miracle after the seniors graduate and he has to patch things together with jucos (Cal was expected to go 4-9 by at least one pac-10 pundit), starting 3-5 and finishing 5-1 after things came together, and full of hope for a monster season in 2004. When's the last time Cal had a better record in November than in September? Oh, and I *heart* me some Vinny Strang.
