How long do you want to ignore this user?
We have two highly recruited guys from 2015 in Carlos Strickland and Jaylinn Hawkins. I've seen a mention or two about Carlos, but nothing for Hawkins. I believe he was supposed to play DB? Anyone able to contribute information on him?

Kinda like how TF would put in an OG in backfield to block

It looks like Spavital's flipped body types at the H and Y positions. Has anyone noticed what side guys like Hudson, Veasy, and Austin are lining up on? Are those guys the inside receivers in trips? I assume they're still the ones playing TE when we go to that.

Spav did the same thing @ TexAM. Notice the different body types @ X/Z as opposed to H/Y as well. Spav used Ricky Seals Jones much differently than Kingsbury would have.
Also, guys like Singleton/Wharton fit in the mold of how he utilized Speedy Noil.

Good stuff. If you get a chance to watch for it, I'd be curious to hear how they're lining up from outside to inside. Normally you number receivers from outside to inside. So, in our standard 2x2 formations last year, Davis (X) would've been the #1 receiver on the left side, Treggs (H) would've been the #2 receiver on the left side, Anderson (Y) would've been #2 on the right, and Lawler (Z) would've been #1 on the right. On that same model, in a 3x1 formation, the outside-most receiver in trips is #1, the guy in the middle is #2, and the guy on the inside is #3.

Under TF, X and Z were always #1 on their side, and H was always #2. When we were 3x1, Y was always #3 (with one particular formation that was an exception). It looks like Spavital's flipped the body types of H and Y, and if he's actually having guys like Stovall line up as #3 in trips, it'd say some really interesting things about where the offense is going. If we used those guys at #3, it'd be a lot more like what WVU did with Tavon Austin at Y, whereas what we were doing with TF is more like what Texas Tech did with Jace Amaro at Y a few years ago.

Exactly -- Spav liked to use Christian Kirk @ #3 -- hence the prevalence for bubbles. Having a more physical dude @ #2 lets you block overhang slot defenders/safeties much easier -- allows you to spring those bigger gains.

A lot of what Spav did was also based on taking shots off of screen fakes -- forced a lot of coverage rotation to the Trips surface, and then would go after iso coverage on the backside -- he liked to do a lot of isolation stuff w/ Josh Reynolds on the outside @ TexAM.

When I recall Kenny Hill's first game @ TexAM (against S.Carolina) I recall thinking of how damn big TexAM's slots were -- dudes like RSJ and Pope (all 6-4, 220+ guys).

Another thing to notice about what might look different is how the back is offset a little deeper in gun sets -- Spav favored a more downhill track than what Tony did out of the Gun (when we wanted to go downhill, it was either under-center short yardage, or out of the Bone/Pistol).

I love McMorris back there. Great iso blocker.
