Just for your information, the Brazilian that intervened to translate for the swimmers at the gas station said in the local news that he explained to the Americans that the security guards wanted them to stay at the gas station until the police arrival. The swimmers became very nervous and said that they did not want the incident to end up in the police station and offered to pay for the damages. They paid 100 reais and 20 dollars, which totals about 50 dollars and were let go. The initial Lochte statement said that they were robbed of 400 dollars. I guess the financial loss for Lochte from the incident will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars because undoubtetly he will lose some of his sponsors, so Feigens financial loss from the incident is relatively minor.
Good info. Thx.
What did they actually do over by that bathroom?
What evidence is there that they did it?
I'm hearing that they pee'd on a wall?
They broke down a door?
They tore down some exterior picture frame on the outside wall?
They completely destroyed the interior of the bathroom?
If all they did was Pee, big deal. Not right to pull a gun for that?
On the other hand, if they totaled the bathroom entirely, then I can understand why all the commotion and the gas station wanting to stop them from getting away.
I have to say, when this first came out, I thought the Brazilians looked really bad. Robbing folks in a taxi (like them being a setup mark).... the judge ordering them to not leave (not fair to do to victims). In the end, it is sounding like the Brazilians were merely defending their gas station turf and the judge (based upon quick police investigative info) determined who the victims actually were.
Not saying it's right to pull a gun, but I can understand it better... someone comes to your house (or gas station), you're gonna stand your ground.
