Apparently this happened yesterday. I assume the 3 players had too much fun during their free time in Sydney. I don't know if they were starters or not. Over on the Hawaii board where I found this, one person called them key players and another said they wouldn't have played much anyway.

Perhaps if the announcers had STFU about the BIGGEST WEEKEND IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!! during the game and actually talked about THE GAME ON THE SCREEN, we would have learned this little tidbit!

Seriously. At least once they let two plays from scrimmage go by without even one word about what was occurring. But how 'bout that $C-Bama matchup next week!

Maybe they should start having two sets of announcers: National (like yesterday's) to promote future ESPN programming and "local" (for the areas of the two teams playing), customized for viewers who might actually care about the game.

They did actually mention the players having been suspended, but there was no mention of whether or not (or how) they would have contributed...but it was only once!

Actually according to this link, two of them didn't make the trip while the third was sent home from Sydney. A snippet from the article: "Outside linebacker Jerrol Garcia-Williams, tight end Tui Unga and safety Daniel Lewis were expected to contribute on the field in UH's season opener. But Garcia-Williams and Unga never made it onto the team charter from Honolulu last week and Lewis was sent home from Sydney for violations."
