I thought as the game was in Washington that UW might win, but the way they did it? shut down the furds offense.. I know teams can have bad away games, but the furd really stunk this one up

Furd clearly has QB issues, and suffered a bunch of injuries to an overall fairly young squad. so without the injuries they probably aren't that bad. with the injuries, well, maybe they are that bad

Washington took advantage of those injuries. I give Browning a lot of credit for being VERY heady, but he's got a noodle arm. Ross just IS a matchup problem on the outside with his speed so Browning just throws those ducks out there and it's a smart play. Washington is a good team, but they aren't THAT good. running game is blah. and as much as they held Mccaffrey to nothing, they got killed the week before on the ground.

also it's college football. young kids. especially ones like on furd that have NEVER been "down" like that in a game? it'll spiral on ya.

Yup. Stanford had too many injuries to overcome and it was the biggest game in Washington in a decade. It snowballed on Stanford.

It's still possible furd will turn into a juggernaut after one loss just like they've done every year....

But it's a little less likely than in past years given the injuries, issues at QB, and morale loss following this complete beatdown.

Stanford was crushed 44-6 last night. I've already had a terrific weekend.

It was a beat down, b-slap, and injuries yes was a big part of it for the Furd, but how about the penalties and other miscues? Poor Shaw - what can you do when you don't know how to get mad??

For all of the good things that UW showed last night, I wouldn't be surprised if its trip to Eugene next weekend ends in a loss. Let down? How much of UW's victory last night was driven by emotion?

oregon might be too sucky for it to matter. but then again, that's why you play the games

Stanford could not coupe with the speed of Washington on offense or defense. Many of the penalties were the result of their lack of speed. Also, the offensive line could not protect even when Washington was rushing four defenders.

I'm really looking forward to more post game Shaw interviews like the one last night where he goes all tedford and talks about looking at the tape and going back to work and getting it all fixed and liking his team's character and yada yada yada. It made my drive home very enjoyable

I saw three passes that went for long yards or TD that were the kind of ducks the Bears picked off routinely last year when they played. In particular an underthrown pass that drew a PI, looked like Luke Rubenzer special - but Furd's S overplayed the receiver instead of watching the ball. Furd's D looked like... well, Cal's D in the second half against ASU.

stanford was down some players, but also might not have been a good matchup ... perhaps UW's defense can just defend stanford run it up the gut offense well ... our spread offense might cause UW more trouble ... on the other hand, UW's overall defense is pretty darn good

however, UW's offense looks pretty scary

and then there was the punt that went off the back of a stanford player. why doesn't that stuff happen when we play stanford?

Makes me think we have a decent chance against the Farm and USC this year

Stanford was positively Teevenseque last night. They bumbled their way around all night.

Didn't realize the game was non-league. Come on, ESPN!

Stanford's lack of depth and speed (particularly on defense) was exposed. If Furd can't dominated the line of scrimmage on offense, they are in trouble because their inexperienced qbs are not helped by Shaw's game day coaching.

I expect Furd's defense to have big problems against WSU next week and against Oregon and Cal. None of those teams have defenses as good as Washington's (their DL really shined), so those games should be close.
