From ESPN.com: "Cal is perfectly positioned to be the Pac-12's spoiler team"

From today's Pac-12 Blog on ESPN.com:

"This past win, though, demonstrated that Cal already is menacing -- especially with so many big games coming to Memorial Stadium this year. Road defensive results similar to the ones attained against Utah would indeed elevate the Bears to the next level, but they aren't mandatory in this program's quest to announce itself as a true factor in the Pac-12 race.

That already happened this past Saturday with the clock dwindling to zero, when the Cal defense came through to knock off a previously undefeated team. Utah may not be the last victim to suffer a losing fate at Memorial Stadium this season -- and if that ends up being the case, the Bears will again have their newfound balance to credit for it."

I'd rather be the Pac-12 Champion than the Pac-12 spoiler.

I think we should replace the "Toughest Team Wins" shirts, with shirts containing this quote. The whole quote.

I like the "Cal already is menacing" part.

Whoever wrote this is a bit awkward with words, but likes us. I can forgive a bunch of flaws when a sportswriter likes us.

That reminds me of the following part from an "honest trailer" of Gladiator:

Is it possible to be a spoiler with so many spoiled brats in the conference (thinking Oregon, USC, furd and UCLA, and maybe Washington)?
Personally I love the fact that Colorado is making folks sit upright this year.
But Cal and Colorado in the title game would make Larry Scott sick.

It'd be a PACKED house, unlike the other conference championship games of the past. Imagine, decades of Cal fans, full of hope, at Levi's cheering for Cal to make the Rose Bowl. I'd name my first child's middle name Oski if we get to the Rose Bowl this year.

If there were a conference title game in the Bay Area in 2004 or 2006, it would have been a huge event. Monumental. And not only among Cal alums.

Way more than the recent CCGs at Levi's where furd's "best team money can buy" earned a Rose Bowl berth in front of their tiny group of smug loyalists while the rest of the Bay Area ignored them.

Let's give furd, UW, Oregon, UCLA, and USC food poisoning, or at least indigestion and gas...

I think he covers us very fairly.

If we spoil everyone this year, we'll be the only team healthy enough to play in the Rose Bowl.

What he needs to realize is that not rigging the conference allows for the best team to represent the conference in the playoffs, etc...

OK it's $20 per. Who wants one? I am marking it x/100 limited edition prints.

You do realize that as soon as you make those, we're screwed?
