I agree 100%. I was just responding to the poster who labeled Williams as pompous and arrogant when, in reality, he probably just doesn't have the required skill set for the position.

How many times have we seen a situation like this where an interim is appointed, then ends up getting the job, when they shouldn't have? On the other hand, the handful of "finalists" for this position (as reported here) didn't sound that great either.

One would think there would be Cal grads out there who would be TREMENDOUS at this job and who would take it for 5-10 years as a labor of love.

Some people are clueless. But why do so many of them seem to work for Cal?

Back in my BK days (before kids), I would spend at least a third of my time at Cal football and basketball games visiting people... and I didn't even have an agenda or a job to get done.
